On week 25
we were invited to two events and luckily we managed to be present at both.
Our participation
at the Bugacpuszta event had a
really good turnout, we were presented to the participants so they could spread
the reputation of Futrinka. The leaflets - which were made by one of our volunteers
about our work – were picked up by a lot of people. The Hungarian pointer/vizsla
protégées of our association were behaving like angels among the numerous shepherd
dogs, and as a consequence they received lots of pets.
The other event was organized
at the same day but at another part of the country, in Sukoró. We were invited
to a picnic organized by Demény for
his birthday. We would like to thank everyone for all the donations received (blankets,
dry and canned dog food and monetary aid). It was an amazing day and everybody had
a very good time.

Our Hungarian vizsla rescue
team had the chance to catch their breath a little this week while some of our protégées
found their new loving home. One of them was Rádli for whom many of you crossed your fingers and followed the
happenings around him earlier. This dog has gone through a lot of struggles;
and there were times we weren’t sure either if we could get there on time, in a
way we have to but the fact that Rádli found his new family reinforces our
faith and commitment in what we do.
Mörzsi was an owner surrender due to
his bad behaviour with children but luckily at our kennels Mörzsi behaved like
a dream dog. Through one of our German partner organizations Mörzsi could be moved
to an experienced, committed foster family and unfortunately he has proven to
have the issues his owners were referring to: Mörzsi has demonstrated a real
dislike for being around children so now he receives special training focused
on this particular issue. His training will no doubt prove efficient, but it
would still be best for him to find a forever family without small children,
and he could have a happy and balanced life ahead of him.
After her falling out of the
window, Liza Harkai moved to a
family where she was very much awaited.
Following his successful
neuter surgery, Majlo’s adoption
paperwork was completed. He might not have even noticed any changes though; his
foster family adopted him.
Tengelic didn’t have to wait
too long for the perfect family as his fosters knew from the first moment that
Tengelic was their dog. After the neuter surgery the adoption documents were promptly
signed.
Fülep
Lajos recovered enough to have the neuter surgery done safely. All went fine.
He is recovering at his prospective owners’ home.
Beside the big departures we
got new protégés and they are quite a team. Misina was adopted from an animal shelter by a private person but then
it turned out that the dog has a microchip registered to another person. It was
also discovered that he has medical conditions which are relatively costly and
so our help was requested. So now we are not just in the process of trying to
improve his conditions but also are trying to locate the registered owner.
Our help was requested for a
German shorthair pointer who had an accident; Zsizsik, as we named him was hit by a car and is now recovering at
a vet clinic.
Talking about vets, Picit also decided to have an unexpected
visit: she suddenly got paralyzed, she was not able to stand up. We thought of
the worst at first; but luckily a haematoma caused the problem, which we are
not sure how she got but her spine is luckily ok. Because of these events, she
has been moved from the kennels to a foster home, so she could be under
constant supervision.
From the Dachshunds Rescue, Pláne who was always
admired by all dog walkers at Tárnok but somehow did not catch the eyes of
potential adoptive families, finally has moved to his forever home. And this
affectionate, good natured dog finally found his home.
Lazac, the wire-haired
dachshund who was rescued from the pound at Gyál, left his pension place and
moved to a foster who are seriously considering adopting him. They have two
weeks of getting to know him and make their final decision, but shall they not
fall desperately in love with this tiny little bundle of joy, we will be able
to select another family from current inquiries about him.
Unfortunately this week we
had a dog returning to us; Tarsóka.
The more than 8-year old wire-haired mini dachshund lady was returned to us due to her family moving. Tarsóka is at
least 1,5
kg overweight which is quite
spectacular compared to her mini figure. This has to be addressed by lots of
walking and an active lifestyle. Tarsóka is with a foster family for the
moment.
Gombócka our veteran dachshund mix lady who has heartworms had a
few gran mal seizures so visits to the vet became frequent. Either the
medication worked or the seizures were simply inflicted by the weather
conditions which have now passed, but Gombocka is well again. She did not have
any seizures in the last few days. We hope it’ll remain this way.
Peppa the basset hound’s
owner asked for our help as they cannot keep this two year-old girl any more. As
per prior agreements Peppa travelled to Germany this week to
continue her life there hopefully in better circumstances. According to the
first news she loves the comfort, the excursions and surprisingly water too.
At our kennels at Tárnok a
small change happened at the basic activity group while Majré the beagle mix girl from the Kisvárda shelter moved to one of
our previous adopting families with option which means when her heat is over
and the spay surgery is done, she will be adopted by them.
