What happened at Futrinka during week 37?

Though well inside September this week we spent in a kind of post-summer feeling, and even if exceptionally we did not have to prepare for any events, we had a lot to do.

We had a quite busy agenda at the Dachshund breed rescue, had numerous adoptions, but the places of those leaving us did not stay empty for long.

Tőzike arrived back then as a puppy from the Méra flaying house, and although some showed interest in her, a longer period of time was needed for the very much awaited family, arriving with a mini Dachshund. The date of moving was scheduled for this week, hence the two dogs could joyfully reunite, their playing together soon followed. This way we can declare Tőzike an owned dog, a family member.

Zsemle had already been visited, but as his wound did not heal properly after the neutralization, we rather waited a bit with his moving so that everything is surely all right with him. His big day also came this week, this nice, happy little guy became the member of a family with two kids.

Muki returned to our care after two years, the proper candidate soon showed up for him. Muki spent two weekends at their home for getting to know each other, his place was just being carefully prepared to make sure everything is all right when he moves in. The great day arrived, Muki settled in his new home to accompany Mütyi, becoming his mate this way – he simply conquered the plush pyramid unused before and as someone having his job completed, slept a huge one. We also have to tell he had problems with his stomach because of his non-proper feeding before, previously he took medicines for it. With a special diet we managed to get fantastic results in two weeks’ time, his stomach did not get swollen any more, he is happy, lively, active and his fur started growing again. His owner continues this diet and we do hope in a couple of months’ Muki is hardly recognizable, having fur all around his body. Also this way we wish his new family all the best and happy years together.

We soon got fond of Alberto, the nice, approximately one-year-old wire-haired Dachshund mixture boy from Hajdúböszörmény. Several interested ones showed up for him, but after the visit of a beginner dog-keeper young couple we knew we had found the right owner, this way Alberto can soon start his real life in his new family.

We had several arrivals this week, Vattacukor, the 15-month-old mini black-tan little girl moved to a temporary adopter with option, it was very fast decided she is likely to get owned.

Zafi, the 2-year-old tiny Dachshund mixture lady arrived at our care from the Hajdúböszörmény flaying house, we got to know a tiny fairy in her – can only say positive things of her. We do hope she does not have to wait long for a proper owner.

Titán, the 3-year-old Dachshund mixture male arrived from Kóborka Association, had been wandering the streets for long, help was asked for him. We met him as a real watchdog.

Csócsó, the 8-year-old Dachshund mixture female came from Illatos út, a micro-chipped one, but her owner just did not need her any more – she already had puppies several times and has a breast tumour, this would have meant an extra cost for him. Csócsó is very friendly with people, a nice one. A serious operation is awaiting her, we do hope everything is going to be all right and we will soon find her an OWNER as well.

Boonz, the tiny 7-year-old Dachshund mixture male came from Debrecen. An endlessly nice, friendly dog, already awaiting the interested candidates. He really deserves to have a good life ahead.

The group of the chanceless mixtures did not have time to get bored even this week, we hav a lot to report on.

As we have already informed you, the current head of the group has resigned of all her managerial duties by the end of this year, hence we are looking for her replacement at the base group. Till we find him/her, the present operation of the group is defined by reducing the headcount – as from the so far unique maximum number of simultaneously cared for dogs, 62 somehow we have to reach a headcount of around 20 by the end of the year. This is an enormous task, as the group is not really known for rescuing the easily adoptable dogs – we are trying to use all our possibilities to advertise our protegees.

It is unbelievable, but we still had dogs not being neutered so far. From among them four visited the vet this week, by now are absolutely ready to get owned. One thing is missing though: the owner himself. Still, it is not completely true, as Mokaszin, saved from the Méra flaying house to escape being put to sleep, is not likely to run a long career at Futrinka – he is a candidate to get adopted. Next week he is leaving us.

The repetitive heartworm test of Mandulás Magdi has also proved negative, she could also undergo neutralization. For this wonderful, warm-brown-eyed, small-medium size lady we are eagerly looking for an owner, as well as a temporary adoptive, teaching her the rules of living inside, this way also raising her chances to get adopted.

We took Pamut from the Szolnok animal protectors. He still does not like being on the leash that much, is very much afraid when the harness and leash are placed on him, but he is getting smarter every day. This week he also underwent neutralization and hopes someone falls in love with and adopts him. It is highly important that even though he is not a small-size one, we would not give him for solely outdoor keeping – also for him we are looking for a family who treats dogs as family members and as such, let Pamut into the house.

We saved Miskolci Dani from the Miskolc flaying house to escape being put to sleep. Most likely he had his previous years full of agression, as even now tends to snatch for immediate movements, but as he is getting used to people not being solely bad, he is continuously leaving this type of behaviour. We would like to find him a responsible, but patient temporary adoptive or final owner, as a family environment could form his personality with much better efficiency.

Miskolci Bogi arrived together with Miskolci Dani – this week she did not go for neutralization, but already moving to her owner, started her carefree adopted life with two other dogs. For a long time no interest was shown in her, but in her case it was absolutely true that one application is enough, if that the perfect one is.

We also had an ownership candidate this week: the temporary adoptive of Vadas Maci asked us not to look for an owner for Maci. He decided to keep him as they have got so close to each other during the long interval spent together that he is not able to let him go.

This week we grew with a new protected one, being not a dog this time, but a half-Persian cat. He spent some years in the streets, by now getting into a very poor condition, was not eating at all. After his arrival he turned out to have a serious inflammation in his body, sadly that he also has FIV, AIDS at cats’ case, which is non-curable, meaning he cannot stay at our temporary adoptive, housing cats.

Our vizsla breed rescue had a more active week than usual, with wounded, accident-involved arrivals, several vet rounds, but also luckily with adoptions as well.

Following his neutralization Valzsan left his family pansion place to move to his adoptive – as his new owner does not have any relatives, who could be of help in case a problem arises, we took lifelong guarantee – as we do with all of our dogs, meaning if someone happens to the owner, we will take care of Valzsan.

Serious interest was shown in Chilis Csoki through another vizsla rescuer animal protective organization, meaning his fate is arranged in the future by them, taking him to their care.

His kennel did not stay empty long, to his place James Bond arrived, an adult Hungarian vizsla boy from the Szerencs flaying house.

The Füzesabony Animal Protectors asked for our help for a skin and bones, hardly 14 kilos dog, and even though he is not a vizsla, we just could not let him down, gave him the name Mákgubó at our care. His blood test’s result arrived the following day, he turned out to have babesia – surely we do not give up, will give him everything for his fast recovery, but please cross your fingers hard for him, so that his weak body fights the disease.

Her family asked our help for a young GSP’ medical costs and treatment, her backbone was broken in an accident. As we could not say no this time either, we organized a collection for her. Mazsola was operated by a vet, taking the fragments out, but he did not take the protection of her spinal marrow into consideration, suggested her being put to sleep, as judged Mazsola unsavable. We asked the family to waive their rights off her so that we could give her another chance, this way she got to our care. Her temporary adoptive was visiting all available specialists with her for two days, so that we get all of their opinion – following this we decided on a new operation. This was successful, but unfortunately it only means now that her vertebrae could be fixed, she cannot walk yet and we were not encouraged in this respect regarding the future. There is just a slight hope of her ever being able to walk again by herself, but tiny signs and hope there surely are, we believe in miracles and will give all we can for this little girl for her recovery. Now three weeks of patient waiting are to come, during which we cannot step forward.

Mom Muki gave birth to 11 kids in an abandoned yard in the countryside – unfortunately only 10 of them stayed alive, the local animal protectors asked for our help in their case and thus we welcomed the family. The babies flew out of our care one by one, only Mom Muki was still waiting for the real one – not in vain, this week she moved to a loving family.

Bengó frightened us to death, was depressed, had a fever, did not eat at all, could hardly be called out of his house. He was given antipyretics, painkillers, infusion and blood was taken from him, fortunately to the evening his fever got lower. So that he gets better faster, it would just be great if someone adopted him temporarily – he is not a simple case, but eagerly desires someone to tend and take care of him. If someone could undertake his temporary, or even permanent adoption, please contact us at magyarvizslasos@gmail.com.

Elvis arrived to us from the flaying house of Nyíregyháza, this week moved to his permanent home, accompanying a yorkie and a cat.

This week our two wire-haired wonders, Maximilian and Matifu also found their final owners. Maximilian has been waiting for this moment for a long-long time, but Matifu did not have to search that long, found his family after only a couple of days.

Uncle Edmund got to our care from the Nyíregyháza animal protectors, unfortunately giving us a positive heartworm test-result, this way we had to start his treatment. Still, what is even more worrying is the pain in his vertebrae and back legs, sadly severe ones. He receives medicines and vitamins, we do hope to ease his pain so that his future life is without them.

Hubi and Helka got to our care from their previous owners for their change of life circumstances – with an aching heart but they had to take this decision in their dogs’ interest. They are very friendly, nice ones, luckily accepting the changes well.

Zsenge Zsömi arrived at our care from his previus owners, who did not have enough time to deal with him, not the amount Zsömi would have needed. He immediately enchanted each and everyone, a nice, calm, wonderful, bit shy one, for whom we would like to find a final owner as soon as possible.

Danke underwent a minor plastic surgery, finally got rid of the huge piece of skin hanging down off his stomach, it also hindered him while walking and was difficult to keep clean.

After a long consultation we decided to get Papóka’s tumours removed, the ones on his back and neck were discharging and also his leukocyte-number has risen – luckily he took the operation better than we had expected.

At the Great Dane breed rescue we needed to arrange movings this week, sadly not because of adoptions.

We informed you so gladly last week on Henrik’s adoption, but our joy did not last long – this week he moved back to the kennel row. Luckily the events did not have a bad impact on him, just jumped into playing with his usual élan. All in all, Henrik is looking for an owner again, a patient, experienced and dedicated one.

The other one moving was also a patched dog. Kiwi, the beautiful 2-year-old dog lady moved to our kennel row at Tárnok, waiting eagerly for the visitors coming with endless amounts of juicy gift bites.
