What happened at Futrinka during week 34?

Summer is soon over, but we just did not recognize the holiday season this year: besides our arrivals luckily had adoptions continuously as well. This might only be a question of good luck, might also be a kind of feedback, actually it was just superb this way. We do hope this tendency goes on well into the autumn, or even accelerates!

Summer is clearly visibly almost coming to an end, with many returning from their holidays – things also speeded up at the Dachshund breed rescue. Our last week was a really active one.

Mosoly, the 8-month-old wire-haired Dachshund mixture girl arrived from Kisvárda – she was highly popular, but many of those interested in her disappeared, hence finally we chose a young couple from among the ones staying –this little girl gets accompanied now by a spaniel. On Tuesday she headed for Tatabánya, becoming owned. As we just heard, she fitted in smoothly.

Roxan, the 2-year-old short-haired lady came some time ago from Heves, a very nice, good-hearted one, no wonder a family soon fell in love with her and following the necessary vet rounds she also got adopted this week. She found the perfect family, eagerly waiting for her. She simply entered the flat, declaring she arrived home.

Amyláz was a found one, wandering the streets with her puppy. She was lucky to bump into one of our adoptives, her life got on track this way. A very nice family chose her for themselves, travelled a long way to meet her. It was love at first sight, after getting neutered she left for her owned life. A wonderful place was awaiting her, long walks every day and lots of love.

Borka was lying in the yard for more than a week after being run over by a car – an animal protector spotted her and asked for our help. After her arrival she needed to be operated immediately, six screws were needed to fix her vertebrae. The operation went pretty well, she recovered completely. After some weeks the first interested ones also arrived. Borka is a very nice and good one, we did not have any doubt that after the first meeting her move will follow. She moved to a routinous Dachshund-owner family, continuing her life in the 3rd district. The owner just told of her: „simply perfect”. Does anyone need more than that?

Skicc is a 6-year-old Old German Shepherd female, arriving at our care as a mate dog, was one of the favourite ones in the group. Her mate, Pencil is already leading his new life, but Skicc did not have to wait too long either – last week she had visitors, moving happened pretty fast afterwards and as the world quite small is, she is now living close to Borka. The two go together for walks now, Roxan will soon accompany them. Skicc will not lack Dachshunds, for which we are exceptionally happy, as she used to spend her life with one of them, becoming her best friend.

We had many arrivals this week.

Three wire-haired little boys came from their owner: Rexus, Korom and Zsemle, Dad and two of his sons. Very well cared for, socialized, they are already waiting for their new families.

Bom, the 10-year-old Dachshund mixture male was simply declared too old by his owner…meaning he was of no use any more, hence he gave his dog to the flaying house of Ózd to be put to sleep. Bom was certainly under the weather, needed immediate help – this way arrived at us after a couple of days. We looked into his eyes, saw only sadness, he was only lying in his bed, ate a bit and went back.
Now he started to realize he is loved and taken care of here. He turned out to be completely housebroken, a friendly and good one. We do hope to find him the real family soon.

During the weekend the 4 Dachshunds we had been waiting for arrived from Serbia, unfortunately had a quite adventurous journey through the border because of the necessary controls, but in the end all issues were solved.
Calypso is a Dachshund mixture lady, Kecses Diana and Kalin are short-haired black-tan Dachshund females, Tipi is a short-haired black-tan Dachshund mixture female, they are all eagerly waiting for adoptive families.

We had two arrivals during the weekend from Balassagyarmat.
Dilen, the 1,5-year-old black Dachshund mixture boy was running up and down the road when he was found. A very friendly little boy, now waiting in safety for someone to fall in love with him.

Csengő is a 1-year-old, very thin little girl, was frightened by the other dogs in the first days. Now she has started to warm up, making friends, a beautiful, special one, having stripes.

Nobu was found in the 18th district, an elderly, wire-haired Dachshund mixture male. Currently his medical check-up is under way, unfortunately has urine-keeping issues, further news are to come a bit later on him.

For a long time no interest was shown in Estike, a candidate also drew back because of her heartworms. Now a young would-be owner showed up for her, their letter already told us everything, the meeting also proved our suspicion. Meanwhile Estike’s heartworm test proved negative as well, though they would have undertaken her even with the infection. So, this little girl hopefully gets adopted soon, her story is to be continued next week

Muki, the small kaninchen female got back to our care after two owned years, unfortunately for a saddening family problem.
She is an immensely good-hearted, curious and friendly little one, did not have to wait long to get an owner-candidate. Some further vet rounds are needed, also establishing the proper feeding is prior to her move.

We warmly welcome everyone 4th September to celebrate the 10th birthday of our Hungarian vizsla breed rescue – the venue is Kertem (Budapest, 14th district, Olof Palme sétány 1), the exact date is 10 am – 4 pm. We are waiting for you with full-day kids’ programme, lottery, star guests, brother-meeting, dog-owner running competition, ear-beauty contest. We do hope to meet many of our former protegees, adoptives, supporters and helpers!

Of course besides organizing our birthday we had a lot to do around our protegees as well – the vizsla – Dachshund pair found in Mórahalom needed to visit the vets, Liliom’s routine heartworm test proved negative, but that of Csingusz positive, meaning his treatment had to be started.

Luckily several of our dogs’ heartworm tests were negative, they could undergo neutralization: Janis, Lali, Elvis and Kicsirigó are now ready to get owned, we only have to find their dream families.

Móki also got neutered, but in his case the operation was a longer and more complicated one, as the knot also had to be removed of his neck, as had grown bigger in the previous weeks. He can hardly tolerate the bandage and the recovery, we do hope he soon gets better.

Some of our protegees changed their adoptives, Lali moved to the kennel row after his neutralization, Uncle Tücsök and Hinda went to a pansion, Pöttyös Panni to a temporary adoptive to wait there until their final families arrive.

We consider each and every adoption a fantastic success, luckily this week brought several of them – Szandál is kept by his temporary adoptive, but his catmate, Flipflop is still on the search for a final family.

Iza and her puppy, Belle came to our care from a family living among extremely harsh conditions – after Belle Iza was also fortunate and found her final family this week.

Some of our dogs headed for a better life thanks to the help of our foreign partner organizations: Tas, Nyafi, Csocsó, Laller, Lizbeth, Sam and Szeuz, wounded last week also left us.

As for our plans Vanna would have also travelled with the others, but her adoptive got sick during the night, meaning Vanna is staying with us for a while yet. We are crossing our fingers for her adoptive’s fast recovery, so that Vanna also gets on her way – she has been waiting for 8 months at our care for this moment, since her beloved owners passed away.

At the Great Dane breed rescue we had a vet round with Henrik this week.

The big boy successfully underwent neutralization and though it is never a nice process, the operation extinguished the only thing standing in his way of getting adopted.

We are still looking for the new, responsible head for the group of chanceless, taking their case on their heart as much as the current one, also continuing and further developing the sustainable and quality-based, at the same time financially economical rescue model. Back at the start our Association was founded for the chanceless ones, the message of its sheer existence is extremely important.

So that the new leader is not faced with non-overseeable tasks and does not have to deal with a number of dogs much more than usual, also including ones in urgent need of rehabilitation, we introduced a headcount stop, emphasizing adoptions at the same time. If everything goes well, we go under 40 in September, from that the usual number of 20-30 is not that far.

Two adoptions were carried out this week. The 14-year-old cocker male, Slenci was not among the most probable ones, but had luck.

The shyness of Roulette, the Jack Russel lady did not shy her would-be owners away, hence she could also start her owned life.

roulette_005.jpg

Unfortunately we had a returnee as well. Merre, the white-caramel spotted boy of the Mandulás-litter from Sárospatak is on the hunt again. The would-be owner needs to undertake continuing his vaccination programme, his compulsory neutralization and indoor keeping.

Next week’s positive news are founded by Pötyke, visited by a young girl – she just fell in love with this elderly and fearful Parson Russel lady, soon adopts her.

Séta, the Mom of Sáros-litter from Sárospatak underwent neutralization this week, meaning she is ready to get adopted. We would like to find her a temporary adoptive till the real one shows up, she had not lived in a flat before, she should learn the rules of it.

Lorzsi, the tiny female, spending 10 years of her life chained had a repetitive heartworm test, but unfortunately it still showed two stripes…We are continuing her treatment, at the same time looking for an owner for her.

_CHE1288.jpg

Pamut, the 3-4-year-old Kuvasz lady moved to a pansion this week. When leashed she is frightened, frozen, but even this way does not have a bad word, also, when without the leash on, she is friendly with everyone. Someone will surely find a great mate in her.

The group of chanceless celebrates its 10th birthday on 11th September at Anker’t. We will not prepare with any extreme programmes, but dogs are warmly welcome, a great opportunity for chatting is given, we are bringing some owner-searching dogs of ours with us, Vizslafotózás is present to take dog – owner pics and we are collecting donations for those in need, to be transported afterwards by Adománytaxi.

What kind of donations?

Worn, but good-conditioned autumn and winter clothing for children and adults, kid toys, school notebooks and durable food.

Where there is nothing to eat, a kilogramm of rice is also a great help. Help us so that we can help others!
