A street carneval was
organized at Kazinczy street in Budapest’s city centre, as a part of its
programme we were given the chance to hold a mini adoption day at Kőleves Kert.
Our base and Dachshund-group protegees participated at the event. All of them
behaved just perfectly, but unfortunately no serious interest was shown in any
of them.
As the great surprise of the day instead of Bio Böbe one of her sons, Bio Batyu arrived – because of his shyness we had not considered him ready for an event like that, but he took the challenge smooth and begged an enormous amount of gift bites.
Our other dogs were
also non-problematic, enjoying the attention and being caressed very much:
Vándor, Merre, Picike, Bio Barka, Bátor, Szöcske, Bomó and Milán as well.
A group of foreign guys
besides enjoying the company of our dogs also collected donations at their
table, supporting the group of chanceless with a significant amount.
Vet issues dominated
life at the group of chanceless mixtures. Miskolci Bogi underwent
neutralization, meaning she is ready to get adopted, but would also be happy to
move to a temporary family.
Three of our protegees
repeated their heartworm tests, two of them luckily getting a negative result.
For this Szonár needed a more than one-year-long treatment following the slower
method, for Mandulás Magdi it went a bit faster. We do hope with this result
someone gets interested in them. They would deserve it.
Unfortunately Küllő’s
test still finished with two stripes, hence he had an ultra-sound check-up – he
turned out to have still loads of well-developed worms, posing a significant
risk. As we need to at least reduce the number of worms, we enrolled him on a
catheter-used removal operation. The treatment though is very expensive, we
need to raise HUF 300.000 for it till the beginning of October.
She had been waiting
for the real one for two years, and finally the one arrived this week: Pötyke
got owned. We still do not dare to believe it completely, but do trust
everything is going to be all right with her.
Still, even though she
flew out, our headcount just remained the same. From the Gyömrő shelter fairy
Szente, the mixture boy found by one of our adoptives arrived.
At the Dachshund breed
rescue several of our protegees had visitors this week, two of our dogs moved
to their new families and on Sunday we participated at an event in the 19th
district.
Calypso arrived at our care last week, but welcomed visitors already on Monday.
We called on him the attention of a family, with whom we had been mailing for a
longer while, we had been looking for them a calmer four-legged mate to become
their first dog. The meeting went just superb, everyone agreed on Calypso being
the perfect family member – on Thursday he could leave for his new home.
As for our first pieces
of news on him he fitted in smooth.
Körmendy Jankó is a
tough boy, full of energy – the visitors did not come to meet him, but had to
realize the beforehand chosen one just did not fit them. Then came Jankó and
simply took them off their feet, his move just soon followed. He is now living
at a family with three kids, guarding their dreams.
Several were interested
in Tőzike, the tiny young clown, but none of them was the real one. A letter
came then, to accompany a mini Dachshund. The couple was just so excited their
meeting happened the very same day, the little girl became an ownership-candidate
to the end of the day.
Lime can also declare
herself fortunate, the applicant family paid her a visit twice, making their
decision afterwards on adopting her. Unfortunately for some viruses her move is
a bit delayed, but we do hope to be able to report on it soon.
Zsemle, the 4-year-old
wire-haired mixture was also soon gone, we also suggested him for a beginner
dog-owner family, their kids were extremely happy about him, hence he
immediately became a candidate for adoption – his move is to follow his
neutralization.
For Sunday we had been
invited to the 2nd Dogfeast of Kispest, organized for the 2nd time with the
support of the 19th district municipality. At the well-organized event, in a
nice surrounding and great atmosphere could we spend the day. Several
performances took place and we had a large number of visitors.
At the Great Dane breed
rescue Woki moved to a temporary adoptive this week. He is continuing looking
for a permanent owner from a family circle, we do hope it does not last long.
We celebrated the 10th
birthday of Futrinka Associaton’s Hungarian Vizsla SOS on 4th September at
Kertem in Városliget. Many already adopted ex-protegees of ours showed up, and
of course our owner-searchers also took part in the event. Serious interest was
shown in some of our dogs, some already got owned since then.
The atmosphere was just
great. At the brothers’ meeting we just wondered at how our dogs, adopted as
puppies, grew up and beautiful are. Many enrolled for the ear-beauty contest
and our birthday cakes, prepared by one of our firm members, Gabi were also a
great success. We had lottery and owner-dog running competition, but also
thought of the kids with dog-shaped sparkling tattoos and colouring corner.
Thanks for everyone
joining us, we do hope you had a great time!
Besides the final
preparational tasks for our birthday party we had a lot to do around our
protegees and arrivals as well. Mogyoró Matyi arrived at our care from his
previous owner because of his move, was placed at a family pansion, already
learning living inside a flat and becoming houebroken – we are both looking for
a temporary and a final adoptive for him.
Hinda’s routine
heartworm test proved negative, meaning she underwent neutralization.
Everything went well during the operation, she is recovering at a family pansion,
ready to move to a final family, we just need to find her the real one.
Barna Barni was found
back in June by an animal friend in a very neglected state, was not
micro-chipped and his original owner did not show up for him. His finder could not
keep him, as he did not get on well with his present dogs, there is place to
improve at Barni’s communication style with them, but in expert hands he can
get used to living with them. For him we are looking for both a temporary and
permanent owner.
Several of our dogs
were visited this week: Muki, Kicsirigó, Elvis, Levelibéka and Móki, it soon
turns out who the lucky ones are to flow out of our care – Kicsirigó is surely
one of them, continuing his life at a family.
Konika arrived at our
care from a rural flaying house – her temporary adoptive decided on adopting
her back then. Now after almost a year spent together she got back at our care,
we are again looking for a final family for her.
