What happened at Futrinka on the 1st week of 2015?

In 2015, we will definitely be at least as busy as in 2014! One of the most difficult challenges will be to find owners who are willing to accept dogs with diagnosed heartworm disease. Anyway, all who can and are willing to support us with at least 2000 HUF are entitled to get an A5-sized calendar of high standard from Futrinka. If you would like to get a calendar, please, write to the address info@futrinkautca.hu as soon as you have transferred the amount.

At the end of the year we rescued two crossbreed dachshunds from Illatos street.
Kesudió is an amazing, friendly, well-behaved mini-polar bear, who always wants to full all requirements. He could be a perfect second dog. He is looking for a temporary owner as well, as at the moment he is living in the row of kennels.

Kapribogyó is a more difficult case, as he is totally unstable. His former owner, an old lady, loved him very much, but he attacks if he experiences unexpected movements or things detected as dangerous, so he might as well bite humans. That is the reason why we do not give him to elderly people or to families with children. We are looking for a devoted, well-experienced owner-to-be. As he used to live in a flat, he would like to move at least to a temporary owner as soon as possible. It might be difficult to find an adoptive owner.

Petúr was found in Sóskút, but his former owner did not appear. Fortunately, he has a well-experienced temporary caretaker and he needs it, as he is able to climb everything, though he might have problems with his spine: his urination and defecation process is not perfectly volitional. He is being examined, we will inform you on.

Fickó was given to our care by his former owner. His hair looked neglected so after his arrival he got rid of his hot and uncomfortable “coat”.

Derrick is a young puppy of about 8 weeks. He was found in the countryside at Christmas, but the former owner did not appear. He was neither vaccinated nor chipped, and, as we had to cure him with scabies, he might not have been dewormed, either.

Yukka, the wire-haired dachshund girl came to our shelter earlier but she was heavily pregnant. She could not be spayed as the puppies were fully developed. It was a difficult decision: the moment they are born, as it is clear for everyone who protects animals, they have the right for a better life. At the end we decided for the puppies to be born, and now we have five girls and three boys. We are looking for owners so that they could move to their new families as soon as they are 8 weeks old.

This week three of our dachshunds found a new home. Kevlár moved to Kecskemét, where he will live as a second dog of a family. Unfortunately, Karbon, who got to our shelter together with Kevlár, came back to us this week..

Csinszka is waiting for being operated because her back legs are too curved. The good news is that she can recover in her new family!

Méz, who was found emaciated in a forest together with her daughter, also moved to a new owner. She gained strength and could get all the necessary interventions. Her daughter, Zserba is still waiting for her new owner.

Pejva is one of our dogs with little chance. She was castrated, vaccinated and chipped so now he is ready to move to a temporary caretaker or new owner. She doesn’t get on well with other dogs so we can give her just as an “only dog”.

The week was also busy for the Hungarian Vizsla Rescue Group. Topi was confiscated by another organization; we took him over from there. We managed to find him a temporary caretaker, but he needs a permanent owner as soon as possible.

Berka was found in the forest on New Year’s Eve. We are still looking for the owner, but she is unchipped, so it will be difficult to prove the ownership. (It is unbelievable how many unchipped dogs are found in spite of the fact that microchips have been compulsory for years.)

Mandi arrived emaciated and with wounded ears from his owner who admitted not to be able to take care of him any longer. He was given warm cloth and eats more times a day now. Even Demény, the famous Hungarian dog-blogger wrote about him!

Unfortunately Shakira, our former protégé, a middle-aged Hungarian pointer got back to our shelter. She is looking for a loving owner, who would keep her forever, as soon as possible.

The week was quite uneventful for the Great Danes. However, Igor found a family. We hope it was a solid decision and he will be all right now.

Little Róza was given her second combined vaccination and there are owners-to-be waiting for her. Negotiations are still being held.
