The greatest event of
the week was undoubtedly the Adoption Day, but besides this we carried out our
regular tasks as usual. We had adopted ones and arrivals in large numbers, but
unfortunately had enough of sad stories as well.
Our vizsla breed rescue
group was busy organizing their first Adoption Day this week, but also had a
lot of other things to do.
The heartworm test of Tas proved positive upon his arrival, this week his
repetitive one was due – also giving a positive result, meaning we are
continuing his treatment
The routine heartworm
test of Akác was negative, hence he underwent neutralization. He took recovery
pretty bad, but in a couple of days he just gathered himself and returned to
his original style
ASKA’s volunteers were
asked to help a bad conditioned elderly vizsla, this week he could leave the
hospital and move to a family pansioned adoptive of ours. His state is – to put
it nice – catastrophic, we have already seen a thousand ill and old dogs, but
at the sight of his neglected state even we were shocked.
The puppies of
Muki-family are finely leaving our care, we do not know what kind of fate they
would have faced if left in the abandoned garden, but they were just born under
a lucky sky, their story turned good. From among the ownership-candidates
Munkás was the last one to continue his life in a loving family, two of his
brothers, Macerás and Méltó are still waiting for their owners
We organized our first
Adoption Day this Saturday, besides our protegees living at the kennel row also
the ones living at temporary adoptives or family pansions were also present. We
welcomed many interested families and do not dare to say it out loud yet, but
it seems some of our dogs became candidates for adoption.
Drazsé and Bagette also
visited us shortly at our Adoption Day, but not as protegees any more, they
just came with their adoptives. After the event both of them headed for their
final families.
Kicsirigó arrived at us
from her previous owner with an open wound, caused most likely by her
neck-collar. The wound primarily affects the lower part of her neck, we are
disinfecting and treating it, luckily her physical condition is better than we
had hoped for.
The GSPs tend to spend
more time with us, due to their active nature and great need for moving – the
nice counter-example now is Zsivány, having spent only a short time at our
care. This week he found a loving family, starting their life together with a
vacation.
Unfortunately the week
brough a sad happening as well, our former protegee, Miska lost his battle with
his disease and is now over the rainbow. He was given three beautiful years by
the side of his family. RIP Miska!
At the Great Danes
Flora underwent neutralization this week and moved to a temporary adoptive.
This dog lady is just so beautiful, she already has serious applicants for
adoption.
Arya moved to an owner!
His family was waiting for him eagerly, by the first pieces of news everything
is all right. We wish you a lot of happy, owned years Arya!
Dachshund breed rescue
had a really intensive week, luckily having great pieces of news, with many
moving to owners, and our ill ones recovering nice.
Miskolci Talpas was an
inherited dog, not needed, not having a really good relationship with other
dogs. After his arrival this issue turned out to be easy to handle, soon got
his ego lowered. A woman soon fell in love with this tiny little boy, visiting
him against all the infos available – the meeting went perfectly, meaning on
Monday Talpas got adopted, accompanying another Dachshund. As we hear
everything is just going fine.
One of our adoptives
found Vignetta, the approximately 2-year-old Dachshund mixture lady, thinned
and with a slight demodex infection. Soon she could move to a temporary
adoptive, recovering her hair, gathering herself together and showing her
unbelievable personality, sometimes a bit annoying, still irresistable. Last
week she had visitors and this Tuesday left us – moved to Szigethalom. She
managed to enchant her family completely, already established a fantastic
friendship with Lime, the boxer girl, enjoying the great walks done together.
Our couple, Cupcake and
Crunch finally moved to owners, belong to a nice family now – the post-moving
problems seem to be solved, as a change runs everyone down. They became
Budapest inhabitants near Vérmező, where they will just make great, long walks.
The owner of Pencil and
Skicc had passed away and his elderly parents could not undertake the care of
two dogs – they asked help, that is how the wire-haired Dachshund lady and the
beautiful Old German Shepherd, both of them being 6-year-old arrived at our
care. They are real mates, we could simply list their positive features, but
rather we would love to find them a great place to live, even together when it
is possible, as they spent the last 6 years together and make up a really
got-together pair.
We also had two
arrivals from Pápa. Vigasz, the 7-year-old short-haired Dachshund lady and
Lime, the 1-year-old wire-haired Dachshund male. Vigasz was meant to be put to
sleep by her owner, luckily the vet did not let it happen – now this endlessly
nice and beautiful girl already has an ownership candidate right after her
arrival.
Lime is a beautiful and
frightened dog, his elderly owner was hospitalized, hence he was not needed any
more. Unfortunately we have no idea what could have happened to him during the
last year, he is simply frightened. We are trying to help him get over it, calm
down and open up, but this surely will last quite long.
Szellőke got back to
our care this week, she started to show signs of separation and her owners
could not handle it. Luckily her fate was followed by so many people that she
was immediately interested in. Finally a young couple visited her with their
Dachshund, Gravitáció – resulting in love at first sight. Szellőke is already
spending her days at a family, as we were informed, everything is just working
perfectly.
Alma, the young
Dachshund mixture girl arriving from Miskolc welcomed visitors this week. The
family wanted her and only her – meaning she became owned at the weekend,
following her neutralization. She is behaving very nice at her family, is
housebroken and gives signals to the owner when needs to go out. She will also
get trained to learn everything she needs in her adult life.
Varázs is a
one-year-old black-tan Dachshund mixture male, not needed by the owner as he
was chewing. The dog is extremely nice, obedient and a good one. Why was he
chewing? As he was not taken care of, was not moved down. Some think if a
garden is available, there is no need for going for walks. Well…this is
something to be thought over by many.
Varázs is soon getting
visitors, we do hope everything gets to its place in his life soon.
Kirby has been waiting
for a long time and even though some were interested, his heartworms just kept
everyone back. Luckily some were not frightened by this treatable disease and
the real one also showed up for him. He got to a family we had imagined for
him. A large dog is important as he loves them, many kids as he is adoring them
and a lively family as he loves it this way. His owners have been eagerly
waiting for his arrival. Kirby is happy, this is already shown by the days
spent together so far.
Borka and Árvácska, our
two run-over dogs are recovering nice. The removing of their stitches took
place and rehabilitation started – on our site you get regular updates on their
treatment.
We also had vet rounds
at the group of chanceless mixtures, though our financial resources just dried
up.
Picike, the tiny
mixture female has a kidney-disease, cannot get infusion any longer as she does
not have a vein suitable for that. Luckily she started eating by herself, also
her mood is quite good – but sadly the result of the repeated blood-test is
worse than any of the previous ones.
Our third newcomer
colleague at the kennel-row could not bear it long, meaning we got pretty short
with recources. Volunteers, other understudies take shifts, not being able to
take all of our dogs out of their kennels (some of them are highly problematic
ones) and not all of them have a daily kennel-row routine. Unfortunately it
resulted in Megan Fox’s accident last week, and this week we had to depart a significant
part of Gombos’ ear – he got too close to the kennel of his ancient enemy,
Poltergeist. Unfortunately his ear had to be stitched, causing his mood is
pretty bad, he is fully stressed.
Still, we also have
some good news. Moped of the Mandulás-litter, arriving from the Sárospatak slum
flew out. He could not have survived there, even if the owners of the plant try
to wash themselves out…
Besides Moped another
„Mo” also got adopted. The lucky one is the shy Mozi, arriving from the
Szerencs flaying house, already being there twice. We do hope his next family
is an insistent one, able to ensure him a happy life. He badly deserves it.
AC Austria, our
Austrian partner organization informed us on having found a family for our
elderly and blind Csobodri – this way his status changed for
ownership-candidate, he is moving soon.
You can meet 10-15 of
our chanceless mixtures at Kertem in Városliget 14 August between 2 pm and 6
pm, giving place to our 2nd mini adoption day. We warmly welcome everyone!
