Summer is passing by
extremely fast and luckily our hot season of 2016 is much more fortunate than
the previous ones, we are also ahead of other animal rescue organizations
regarding the number of adoptions. Of course there is also some luck behind
this phenomenon, but the base are a lot of work, advertisments, appearance at
certain events – plus the professional photos that helped us being able to
proudly inform you every week on the ones leaving our care.
This week a mini adoption day was organized by
our Base Group, taking care of the chanceless ones – this ensured the
opportunity to meet several of our protegees personally. Luckily all of them
behaved perfectly, though again there were some amongst them receiving this
possibility just as a try. They had a perfect day, thanks to our volunteers,
visitors and the enormous amount of gift bites. We were very glad to see our
ex-protegees visiting us, Kertem, giving the location of the event was again a
fantastic host, everyone found what he needed on this hot day. All, who
participated in the organization works can be very proud, we feel the same –
also, we are also extremely grateful as an event like this cannot be done
without you. Thanks very much for being with us!
Our kennel-row team was represented by three dogs: Zizeg, Bio Böbe and Vándor –
in his case we were not so sure he would tolerate the noise and the crowd well,
but not counting some minor panicking he basically drowned his nervousness into
gift bites. Sadly none of them raised interest, but Bio Böbe could meet her
already adopted daughter, Bodza and her still owner-searching son, Barka,
living at a family pansion.
From among our family
pansion-inhabitants present were Gurtni, Szonár, Zomé, Küllő, who just behaved
perfectly the previous occasion and Állas Morzsi as a new challenge, plus
Picike, Szöcske, Bátor and Bio Barka. Picike met her Mom, Lorzsi – they were
very happy to see each other, but actually all the dogs had a great time, being
caressed and fed continuously.
Gurtni was already
inquired upon via e-mail by a young couple, we arranged their first meeting to
Kertem – this went so smooth that our volunteer could immediately take this
Dachshund mixture male, over so many troubles to his owned life. He became one
of the adopted dogs of the day. Besides him there was some interest shown in
Küllő and Szöcske, we will see if anything comes out of these.
Their temporary
adoptives brought Lorzsi, Marci, Slenci, Alfonzó and…
Almost Vigyori was
brought as well. „Almost” for the reason that his temporary family rather adopted
him, being frightened by the possibility that someone irresistibly falls in
love with him. This way Vigyori has found his home, after being a
Futrinka-protegee for three years.
Closing a venue with
two adopted dogs is a great success and if we were lucky, the personal meeting
might have had a mark in others, too. We do hope to be flooded by inquiry
e-mails soon. Our next events, for which we are looking for volunteers, and
also warmly welcome everyone:
- 3rd September, we
will prepare with a mini adoption and caressing day again, now at the yard of
one of the pubs of Kazinczy street
- 11 September we will
celebrate the birthday of chanceless at Anker’t, collecting donations for those
in need via Adománytaxi, meaning it is high time to select through your warmer
clothes, toys and also get some durable food product – as purchased in small
units actual help is not even recognized financially.
We would also be satisfied with these reports
around the mixtures, but will not stop here. As we already reported, we are
looking for a new head to the group of chanceless mixtures from 2017, as the
current manager has resigned of her Futrinka managerial duties – but to be able
to give the group to her successor in a state that s/he does not have to face
an incomprehensible number of many times problematic dogs, now we have to
reduce our headcount to the usual 20-30 dogs. Of course we do not mean it by
putting dogs to sleep, in case someone had thought about it – but we will do
really everything we can to get our protegees to people. We started from 62,
the highest so far in the life of our group, also including the 15 ones taken
from the Dachshund breed rescue upon their change of leader, and also the
non-planned, but life-saving two litters, meaning 11 dogs altogether.
We had several other
adoptions this week. From among the Sáros-litter, saved from the Sárospatak
horror plant Serleg, the sharp blue-eyed beauty moved to an owner, luckily
everything is OK with her in her new family, she is really loved.
Though Sampon was
cancelled by his previous adoptive-candidate, it seems we managed to find him
new ones, currently having an option on him, as heading for a holiday – but
hopefully we can report on his adoption next week. (We do not keep a dog for
more than a week or two, as most cases the adoption finally does not come true
– but it steals a precious period of time from our dogs.)
From among the
Sáros-litter only the young-adult mixture Mom, Séta is waiting for the real one
– in her case we would also be happy for a temporary adoptive as well, as Séta
has not lived in a flat so far and her socialization solely meant a fight for
survival against her dog mates at a yard – meaning she has a lot to learn. If
someone is ready to take her home, please send us a mail to info@futrinkautca.hu. It would really be
a great help, as the chances of getting adopted are much higher in case a dog is
used to living inside, compared to the ones coming from a kennel.
Finally the last member
of Mandulás-litter flew out, Merre moved to the 11th district of Budapest, to
become a member of a loving family, awaiting her very much.
Their Mom, Magdi is
fighting heartworms, her treatment is underway – even this way a family would
like to meet her. We do hope she will just get them around her paw, please
cross your fingers that it just happens this way.
Our German partner
organization, Setterburg is a great help for us in trying to reduce our
headcount – they have found a superb temporary adoptive family for Kérdőjel,
the striped Dachshund mixture female, from where she could also find a final
family. We were extremely happy for this possibility, are currently organizing
her trip.
Though we are keeping
our strict self-imposed headcount stop, this week still had a future new
arrival – Pamut, the elderly Kuvasz mixture lady landed at us from the Szolnok
animal home. We organized her vaccinations, meaning soon she will really land
amongst our protegees.
And if we are already
at movings, Bors, the jumpy saved from the Miskolc flaying house to escape
being put to sleep was placed from an outer pansion to our kennel row at Tárnok
– he is waiting for interested candidates, having a great nerve system and
reflex, knowing how to handle dogs.
We closed the week with
a headcount of 47, currently 4 of our dogs are ownership-candidates, we do hope
to reach below 40 till the end of August. For this we still desperately need
ownership candidates and temporary adoptives as well – teaching the rules of
living inside for one or two non-family inhabitant protegees of ours, hence
raising their chances of getting adopted.
At the Great Dane breed rescue Raya travelled to our German partner
organization after waiting for 4 months. At home he was shown no interest in,
hence he is continuing his search for an owner with renewed chances in Germany.
The lucky one of the
week is Ursus, the nice black giant. For a while he had been a candidate for
getting owned, now this beautiful guy can really be declared adopted. Wishing
you a lot of happy years, Ursus!
Dachshund breed rescue
had a more silent week, but luckily with new adoptions again, several visitors
and of course new arrivals.
Margaréta arrived at
our care a couple of weeks ago, with a frightening wounded nose – the nice and
calm young female undertook the treatment nicely, the wounds started healing
pretty fast and luckily the problem was not as bad as it first seemed to be.
She was placed at a temporary adoptive, having a great time, and though her
nose still wounded, the first inquiries also arrived soon. Finally the adoption
happened as well, a routinous dog-keeper couple took her home, they are living
a really active life, meaning great walks and tours await Margaréta – of course
becoming a great traveller as well, as she is taken to every family trip.
Tatoo arrived at us
from Füzesabony. The young wire-haired Dachshund mixture boy has just a
fantastic nature, having some candidates before, but for one reason ar another
adoption always failed – but as we know everything has a cause.
Then came Samu, the
Chihuahua with his family, and it immediately turned out at their first meeting
that they would make perfect mates. Tatoo did not belie himself, walked nicely
with the family, just getting them falling for him. We did not have to wait
long, they indicated their wish to adopt him. On Friday he just packed his
things and moved to Gödöllő, to his new family. Samu invited his new family
member for a play right away.
Pencil got to our care
because of the death of his owner, bringing his mate, Skicc with him. We
thought about getting them adopted together, which is always a more difficult
thing – but fate arranged it otherwise. Pencil was fallen in love with a
visitor, making a fast decision afterwards – Pencil, our tiny little
ball-juggler moved to an old-acquintance dog-keeper family. He fitted in fast
and has a great time.
Our two new arrivals,
Roxan and Mila came from Heves. Unfortunately Roxan got a cold for the
following day, we are not too happy about it, but do hope she recovers soon.
Mila is extremely thin, for her the top priority is to gather herself and get
stronger.
Cocó, the 4-year old
short-haired Dachshund mixture male came from his owner, previously growing on
his head too much, behaving agressively. For him the most important is that we
put him to his place in the hierarchy, so that he learns where his stand is.
For him we are surely looking for a routinous, determined owner.
For Sunday we were
invited to Veszprém, to the Dachshund meeting, organized for the 2nd time. We
were in a beautiful town, in a picturesque location. We could meet a lot of old
acquintances, from among our ex-protegees Jade, Császármorzsa, Baja, Szerencse,
Jumurdzsák, Sütike and Teri were present, also Porca represented the breed
rescue. Thanks very much for Eszter Csaba for the invitation, for the
organization and for collecting donations for the breed rescue.
At our vizsla breed
rescue we had to arrange the re-location of a former protegee of ours, which is
never a grateful task. Besides we had vet rounds, adoptions and new arrivals as
well.
Tajték arrived at our
care from his previous owners, a great-size, strong and muscular vizsla, for
him we are looking for an active, final family.
The leg of Vanna was
wounded deep by a branch while running around in the woods – unfortunately a
more serious operation was needed than the vets first thought it. She spent the
night at the hospital, but the following day could return to her adoptive.
Szegfűszeg underwent
neutralization, everything went well during the operation, she is recovering at
her temporary adoptives.
According to the plans
Fanta would have moved to her final family at the beginning of the week, but in
the last moment they changed their mind and stepped back from adopting her.
Luckily she did not have to wait long for the real one – the very same day
another interested family showed up for her, their meeting went just perfect,
resulting in Fanta finding her final family this week.
Our sad-eyed Kispál
could finally leave the kennel row and moved to an optioned temporary adoptive
– it soon turned out for them, that their relationship is meant forever. The
same week we signed the final adoption contract on him, Kispál officially
became owned.
Alice and Janis arrived
at our care from the Nyírmada animal protectors. Alica got to the shelter after
the death of her owner, given down by the heirs. Janis was a found dog, not
being micro-chipped and his original owner did not show up for him.
Though last week’s
Adoption Day did not bring luck for Elvira, this week she welcomed visitors –
the meeting went well, Elvira found her final family.
Akác moved to loving
owners during the weekend, happy family years are to come in the life of this
wonderful-natured dog.
For some reason the
less fortunate happenings always come to the last days of the week. Our
ex-protegee, Valenta got back to our care after spending two years owned – now
we are looking for an owner for her again, but only a final one.
