This week was about the arrivals at our
association, but we must also consider that currently we are operating at completely
full house, moreover, the holiday season is drawing near, when adoption stops,
only the incoming flow would continue.
To our Great Dane breed rescue
we had a lady arriving, with tumours – we have given her the name Barbarina.
From our Dachshund breed rescue Pörzse, the wire-haired Dacshund lady moved to an owner. We must admit to have had strong fears regarding the cat, but Pörzse is performing above all expectations, taking the barriers in a superb way.
Sütőtök has changed the Tárnok kennel row for an owner, previously undergoing a complete medical check-up to see if the half-sided way of moving is caused by something to be operated. The X-ray examination has not shown anything, hence Sütőtök moved to Biatorbágy.
Unfortunately we are not over the heartworm-fight with Poltergeist, according to the periodic
controll’s two lanes he is still infected. We will continue his treatment using
the slow method.
The number of leavers equals that of
arrivals…Fifi, the 8-year-old
short-haired female was given to us by her owners, as when moving abroad they
could not keep her. Fifi is a nice lady with a good nerve system, not
completely understanding where her ordinary life has disappeared, but even this
way trying to meet the expectations. We would like to find her a good owner
soon.
The other arrival this week is an extra
nice, slipping, young-adult Dachshund mixture male, Gombfoci – unfortunately having some of his guts out in his
scrotum through a hernia. Soon an operation awaits him.
At our vizsla breed rescue the week was unambigously about the arrivals. An adult, neutered Hungarian vizsla male was found near Sóskút, temporarily we placed him. Neither the vet’s, nor our chip-reader did not show anything, but the original owners have shown up for our call, could also state their ownership with valid documents. The dog has turned out to have a chip, which most likely has run out or is not activated. This way we would like to call your attention to the fact that according to the relevant legal rules it is compulsory for each dog to have a micro-chip – and it is our own responsibility and interest to get it checked by the veterinarian, whether our data are accordingly registered and the chip is activated.
Tompi has been found by one of our temporary adoptives: he was looking for food at the junk besides the heavy-trafficked Balaton road, skeletal. We were quite frightened as Tompi was in an extremely bad state: he had to undergo a lot of check-ups and treatments, in the end getting infusion for three days for his acute kidney-insufficiency. Luckily Tompi got healthy soon, based on the chip data we have found his owner as well – but in the end he was not willing to pay for the high vet costs, rather waived his ownership right. That is how Tompi became an honorary vizsla, and like that a protected dog of our association’s Hungarian vizsla breed rescue. His brother, Rücsök with a wounded nose also belonged to Tompi, of course we could not say no to him either. Later these cuties turned out to have been kept as stock at a manage, first of all to hunt rats and in order to not to get lazy, supposedly were not really given any food…
The Füzesabony Animal Protection
Foundation has asked for our help to a Mom
dog and her puppies – someone has tied up the pregnant mom using a rope to
a piece of wood in no man’s land, in the puszta, having nothing around them,
only a lot of litter, thrown out garbage. Food and water nowhere, we have no
idea, how long she could have stayed alive like that. She gave birth to her
puppies there, and in order to ensure them a safe home in the uncertainty, she
has dug a hole to protect them from the cold.

Uncle Mester, the lovely 10+ vizsla father
arrived at our care from the Orosháza Animal Protection Foundation. His way of
moving is a bit soldierlike, having an advanced osteoporosis – he also has
sodium deficiency, his liver and lipase-values reach for the skies and if all
these are not enough, he is heartworm-positive. We have started giving him
medicines, vitamins and the treatment against heartworms, his diarrhoea looks
to be getting better, is lively and luckily his mood, appetite are all right. The
doctors have fixed his forward-falling penis as much as it was possible, we do
trust it does not have to be operated and was only caused by the initial
stress.
Detti’s heartworm test proved negative, this week she underwent neutralization.
Luckily everything was all right during the operations, meaning nothing
separates her any more from becoming owned.
Lissy, the shy vizsla girl arrived at our rented kennel row this week. She only
spent there a pretty short period, the following day moved to a temporary
adoptive – also having an option for permanent ownership.
We seem to have been happy too fast…Rénó has returned at our care after
only a couple of days spent at owners, regardless the caution, regardless the
loads of advice if the owners do not pay any attention to them. This way Rénó’s
status has changed back to „looking for an owner”.
One of the crew members of Vizslatúra,
previously adopting a dog of ours, Mirza,
has decided to help our protected ones from the kennel row in Tárnok – for last
Sunday they have organized a Vizslatúra walking-day for our dogs living there.
This day now was not about their own dogs, but the owner-seeking ones of
Futrinka, their walking, caressing, collecting donations for them. To tell you
the truth, we had not even dreamt of such a result: loads of sacks of dogfood,
loads of rice and pasta, loads of cans, dog sweets, blankets, bedsheet, towels,
medicine, dog beds, disinfectioning materials – only a few examples of what the
members of Vizslatúra have surprised our dogs and us with.
The weather – even if we were continuously
begging for it – unfortunately was not on our side, not counting the first hour
it was raining constantly and the cold was really a chilly one. But it was
amazing to see that regardless of this about 80 people have arrived to us,
smiling, enthusiastic, ready for walking. All of those of our dogs who could go
for a walk have done it twice, taking a great distance and of course tried to
become cleverer also during the walk. In the meantime all the kennels – also
with the houses drawn away – were fertilized from floor to roof. And each and
every one of us was smiling, being happy, noone seemed to be tired or cold. The
co-operation and another feeling was sweeping across us, something that cannot
really be described, only experienced: to see what is glowing from the eyes of
our dogs when so many things and so many people there are – solely for them.
It was a fantastic day, to the end the sun
was also joining us, smiling.
We got extremely exhausted, but were tired
in a happy way and all of us knew that it is to be continued, as it was a long
time ago that we felt such a co-operation, such a will to help!
Vizslatúra-team, here we cannot say it in
another way, only to tell You are fantastic! Not only the Hungarian vizsla
breed rescue, but the whole Futrinka Association is extremely grateful to you.
Thank you that you are!
(…the crew members are already planning
their next action, which is again a great help for us:http://www.vizslatura.hu/hu/aktualis/782/a_vizsla_tura_csapata_ismet_segitseget_ker
