With half of the world
watching the Football European Championship, life has still not come to a halt
at us. This week was surely not letting us get bored.
From among the Dachshund breed rescue three of
our dogs could move to owners.
Zsebpénz, the
large-size wire-haired Dachshund mixture male, found in Debrecen moved to his
new home on Friday, accompanying in the future a Basset hound in a very kind
family.
Huja, the 6-month-old
wire-haired lady continues her life as a member of a routinous dog-owner family
in Kecskemét. She was quite shy accepting the change, but luckily soon realized
to have got to the best place.
Szőregér, the
wire-haried mixture found by the road near Szerencs has gone a long way. The
initial dog squatting in his box has become a real big city-boy. His owner had
awaited his arrival very much, among others with a lot of toys, which Szőri was
trying of course one by one right away.
Aunt Manci underwent neutralization
this week, with also a small tumour cut out of her eyelid, the operation was
successful. She receives everything needed for her fast recovery at her
adoptive.
We also had new
arrivals this week, Larson and Tatoo – two young wire-haired Dachshund males,
already neutered, only waiting for a loving family.
Rose, the wire-haired
Dachshund female was found by a main road, for 14 days she is looking for her
original owner.
At our vizsla breed
rescue the week was mainly about the less spectacular organizational tasks done
in the background, but we were not bored either this way, had a lot to do.
Kalocsai Szilva arrived
at our care from her previous owners, was placed at a family pansion.
Mom Muki just scared us
this week with her spontaneous sickness, was right away insfused to prevent her
drying out. According to her lab blood test her sickness was caused by pancreas,
liver and gut inflammation, was hospitalized – luckily getting better after a
couple of days, returned home to her puppies and adoptive.
As Lotte and Luiser
both produced a positive heartworm-test result, they could not be neutralized
this week – we have started their treatment.
Uncle Csücsök, the
elderly mixture was left behind by his previous owners when moving – the new
ones did not need him, meaning he would have been put to sleep, had the local
animal protectors not asked for our help. In his case we suspect nervous or
muscle tone problems, a vet visit is surely awaiting him.
Finally Tarda also got
the lucky numbers, finding a final family. She will continue her life in a
superb one, getting loads of excursions and treat.
Kartal was visited
during the weekend, but unfortunately they just did not match, meaning he is
still looking for the real one.
The group of our
chanceless mixtures just got on an emotional roller coaster this week, it is
the most difficult to hold on these times. We are trying.
How can it happen that
the head of Manduláshegyi Animal Home of Sárospatak is trying to excuse himself
at each forum available, claiming the rescuers are putting him in bad light, with
everything being all right at his institution – while at the same time we are
fighting for the sheer life of the litters rescued from there, with the Mom’s
skin disease meanwhile reaching the puppies as well? This week we lost Makka,
the black-tan female from the Mandulás-litter. For her freedom came too late.
We are sorry.
This week we still had
arrivals from the waiting list, but by now we are over our yearly plan,
managing to push beyond our own limitations – for a while we have to concentrate
on adoptions.
Dero, the 8-year-old English setter was given
down by his owner. The originally Italian-documented male was once called off
already, but the non-wanted dog still stuck at them. Dero immediately underwent
neutralization and will leave us after his recovery.
We keep a good contact
with the Eger shelter, promised to take some dogs from them before their move.
Back then the case of Sárospatak and the dogs coming from the Dachshund breed
rescue were unknown to us, but of course we kept our word. We took three dogs
from them now, surely helping a lot, as they need to relocate 120 dogs to their
new place, having a capacity for only 60. To us arrived three wonderful ones
from among the stucked-in dogs.
Szöcske is an approximately 1,5-year-old Puli- fox terrier mixture lady, got to
the shelter as a member of a non-wanted litter, also growing up there. A nice,
open one, wishing to meet expectations, getting out well with everyone. She is
also looking for a temporary adoptive!
Kismandela is the same
age as Szöcske, also getting to the shelter as a puppy, left behind on a
roadside. He also grew up at the shelter, meaning he has a great relationship
with other dogs, but is shy with humans, needs some time to open up. He is also
looking for a temporary adoptive!
Bátor is a
5-6-year-old, mid-size, nice-souled male, otherwise being shot would have been
his fate. He had been a long-time inhabitant of the Eger shelter, but as he is
a very kind, open dog, we do trust he will soon get adopted. He is also looking
for a temporary adoptive!
We had several vet
rounds this week, from the routinous ones to special check-ups.
Anada, the
6-8-month-old lady got neutered. Unfortunately no serious candidate has shown
up for her, but the dream owner will come. For sure.
Also neutralization,
but in case it is for a 14-year-old dog, it is anything but routine. Néró’s
ultrasound and blood-results made it possible to be carried out and he went
throught the operation all right.
Monki is
heartworm-negative, but microfilaria were found in his blood, hence for safety
we have asked for a PCR-examination for him. We are waiting for its result.
Belli was also tested,
producing negative at Snap 4dx and Knott as well –meaning in her case there was
no reason to make a PCE. Otherwise she is getting better, coughing less.
Two of our protegees
got adopted this week. Linda, the Mommy of Karácsony-litter is kept by her
temporary adoptive. For Linda it was just perfect, even now the ties between
them are absolutely visible.
The other case is that
of Leto, the spitz-Dachshund, starting a new life in the 13th district of
Budapest. This week we also received his skin-scratch result, stating the stain
on his ear was caused by mold fungi.
This week the
Facebook-site of the group of chanceless mixtures reached 8.000 likes. Thank
you all!
