What happened at Futrinka during week 52?

In the name of Futrinka Association’s whole team we thank You for being with us in 2016, wish all of You a happy and successful new year! Our resolution for 2017 is just one thing: that we are trying to help any dog waiting for rescue or being in trouble as our knowledge and possibilities allow, so that this new year brings them a nicer and better life.

Many think 2016 is the year of closure, when we have to leave the past behind. Also in our Association’s life this year brought significant changes, our 10-year-old dream of a „Farm” came true. So, 2017 is really a new beginning for us, at a new place, being able to provide far more quality circumstances to our protegees. Our new place is just beautiful, in the middle of Pilis, by the side of a forest, but easily accessible by car and public transport alike – it is at Piliscsaba, on the edge of Garancsliget.

On the Farm we will have two huge dog-runners at our protegees’ disposal, in which they can freely run around and play. The base was given for these, for fencing them around we would like to ask your help.

To form them we would need the followings:
-       closed segments, in the size of 30-40
-       wire netting
-       electric fence strings and apparatus.

Besides we would need enthusiastic volunteers as well, who could help us compile the runners when the materials arrive.

If you could and would like to support covering the costs of the runners, please donate to Futrinka Egyesület’s bank account of 10404089-49575251-57561000 at K&H Bank, indicating TANYA/KIFUTÓ as a note.

Though we still have a load of work to do around the Farm, we would like to open its gates to you, we do hope you will fall the same way in love with it as we did. You can take a walk around with our dogs in a beautiful surrounding, they are already eagerly waiting for the visitors. For a detailed itinerary please drop us a line to info@futrinkautca.hu!

Our Farm’s horse has also arrived to our ranch, Hercegnő was orphaned after the closure of a manege, our chairman was personally strongly attached to her, met her day by day, as her own horse was living at the same place. If you visit our dogs, you can also meet Hercegnő, do not miss the chance to do so, she is accepting carrots in any quantities available.

Our vizsla breed rescue spent the last week of the year very busy.

Puma Peti had spent weeks in the street after his injury, while we received infos on him – he needed to go through a femur-beheading operation. He has recovered nicely, this week has also found his permanent family.

Béri Brúnó arrived at our care from his previous owner with a bitten wound on his leg. Upon his arrival had a fever and was weak, but luckily got better for the following day, his wound needs to be disinfected and bandaged, he is taking painkillers.

The routine heartworm tests of Békás Riki and his mate, Bubu were negative, meaning they could both undergo neutralization.
During the operation Riki’s outgrowths were also taken off, plus some of his teeth needed to be removed. Riki found his permanent owner during the week, not being a stranger for him – a close relative of his former owner adopted him.

During Bubu’s neutralization her womb and ovary turned out to be full of tumours, these were removed and sent for histology – we are still waiting for the results though.

Virág got to our care as a found dog, she had already been spotted wandering a couple of times, now could have been caught. She had a micro-chip, but the registered owner does not wish to keep her – ownership rights on her are still to be decided.

To our greatest surprise Zétény has gained weight, gone up from 11,9 to 12,3 kg, finally he has started to put it on, even though slowly. Zétény’s temporary adopter is not considering time or energy, spending long hours with him every day with the greatest love, so that he recovers and gets his will to life back. Without this loving care Zétény would not be alive!

Herkules arrived at our care in extreme bad condition, skin and bones, when standing up he can hardly walk, his own weight is pulling him down. His body is wounded at several places. Upon his arrival he ate a bit in the evening, drank a lot and got himself rounding up at his bed, he is very happy to be in warmth.

During Christmas a thin adult Hungarian vizsla was found in the 20th district of Budapest, he was not micro-chipped. His finders could not keep him, hence he got to our care. We named him Cibere, for 14 days he is looking for his original owner, being able to prove his ownership rights with valid documentation.

Peggy found her permanent family this week, but actually it did not cause any changes in her life: her superb temporary family decided to adopt her, she will surely lead a very happy life with her owners and four-paw friends.

Our vizsla team has also said good-bye to 2016, we were cooking –baking, everyone according to their skills, the less clever ones buying something instead or cooking baked rice. Our team member, Gabi was also making a heavenly cake for this occasion.

During New Year’s night we received tons of reports on lost and found vizslas.
Szenilla, the elderly GSP lady was found 1 January in Budakalász, stuck between two walls, from where she could not escape herself. We have no idea how much time she had spent there, her whole body was completely frozen, she was placed in a warm flat. She is pulling a leg a bit, but not counting this one she is OK, luckily has a good appetite, a nice and good-willing dog. She was not chipped, for 14 days we are looking for her original owner, being able to prove his ownership rights with valid documentation.

Not counting New Year’s Eve, besides the lost and found dogs we also had many things to do around our protegees.
Herkules had only been at our care for a couple of days, his leg covered by ulcers, from which one blew up, the died-out part had to be removed, cleaned, the wound bound up. The wounds on his testicles were also treated, but as his injuries disturbe him a lot and he is continuously trying to lick them, he received a collar.
His wounds need to be bandaged, for which we would need the folllowings:
-       sterile lint
-       gauze pads
-       traditional plaster or mefix
-       self-adhesive coloured bandage.
Please, if with any of the above you would like to contribute to his recovery, send us a mail to magyarvizslasos@gmail.com. Thanks very much!

One of the Zs-babies had his mouth torn up, the cause being a mistery for his adoptive as well, it needed to be stitched together.

Legolas arrived at our care from his previous owners, they had meant him as a Christmas present to their child. His owners had declared him to be 3-months-old, but the vets measure him only 9-weeks of age. Since his birth his toes have not developed properly on his right front leg, has only two toes there, only swinging there, he is walking around stumbling. His tail is amputated, very ugly, most likely it had been done at home. He does not have any vaccinations and is most likely full of worms, as his stomach is extremely big. He was placed at a superb temporary adopter family, at our volunteers.

At the Dachshund breed rescue the last week of the year was again a pretty active one, luckily several of our protegees could enter 2017 as adopted ones.

Boonz, the middle-age short-haired Dachshund mixture male moved to a temporary adopter a couple of weeks ago, just stealing their heart so much that he could to our greatest joy finalize his place at his new home.

Dáma returned to us once, these cases always make us so sad…but luckily the dream owner soon arrived for her, meaning she got adopted the last day of 2016, moved to a really superb place.

Getting adopted did not actually mean a change in Ralph’s life, he found his final home at his temporary adopters.

Marlenka, our endlelly nice tiny wire-haired Dachshund mixture just found the perfect place as home, with her little owner they are already living their life in perfect harmony.

Unfortuantely we also had bad pieces of news for the week, Korom returned to us, unfortunately our advice regarding the room kennel was not kept to. Korom started to re-order the flat when left alone and his owners could not handle this. Now he is looking for a new adopter.

korom3.jpg

We had two arrivals for the last days of the previous year. Csillagtök, the 3-year-old short-haired Dachshund mixture male, arriving at our care from Győr. We learnt a very nice, friendly dog in him.

csillagtok3_001.jpg

Busó, the 10-year-old wire-haired male arrived the last day of 2016 from his former owner. He was used for hunting, does not get on well with males, really dislikes cats, but is very human-centred and also likes kids very much.

Thanks very much for their support and being with our protegees in 2016, we are counting on You in the new year as well!

From the Great Dane breed rescue Isabelle, the beautiful black dog lady, arriving at our care with Bambusz moved to her owner this week. As we already reported last week, her family was eagerly waiting for her, she fast got her familiar with the flat and conquered her owners’ bed.
We wish you a lot of happy years to come, dear Isabelle!

At our base group the last „present” to say good-bye to 2016 with was Noruz, the 13-14-year-old hound mixture uncle. He used to be kept inside, but when his owners sold the house, they simply left him behind in the garden. He had been living there for 2 months already, the neighbours were feeding him and though there was no fence around the estate, he just stucked himself in front of the entrance door. He could have been caught following a several days’ chase, most likely he has tumours, both of his rare legs are wounded. What is even more worrying is that even though he is trying, he cannot pee.
