What happened at the Futrinka on the 14th week of 2015?

The second week of training organized by www.kutyatrening.hu went very well for both human and canine trainees. The human-dog teams are getting more in sync and great progress is being achieved. We also welcomed new photo reporters who documented the program.

Cseresznye, who had been waiting for long to find her home moved to foster care with option to adopt. We have high hopes for this Jack Russell mix to happily settle down this time.

Bangócs has to wait a bit longer to move to Germany. Our plan to send her to her new family was temporarily delayed due to technical difficulties with transportation. Luckily the change of plans did not faze her much. Her time will come soon to meet her new family
New arrival this week is Pöcsös Béla. He is a very special puppy. Caused by a genetic disorder, his movement is robot like. This condition is permanent and does not seem to bother him the slightest. He also has a permanently protruding penis that some people might find unsightly. We hope to find the very special, brave human who would give a second chance to this small and very sweet pup.

Our Dachshund Rescue division had a very successful week placing dogs. It is great news because this division is currently operating over capacity. Tanka and Néna arrived together from the Karcag pound after their previous owner’s death. They found new homes the same week though not together.
Néna went to live with a young couple and adapted to her new situation practically overnight.

Tanka now has cat siblings in her new family and is also very happy with the new arrangement.

We are not surprised the slightest that HappyMeal had found a new home so fast. Hottest ticket for finding new digs is being young and cute witch description he fits perfectly. We are sure we found the perfect match for HappyMeal and his new family.
It was Karcsú’s turn to move out at last. She had been reserved practically since the day we took her in. First, she was in heat. Then she had to go through neutering surgery and then wait for the removal of the stitches before she could move to her new home. Happy trails to you Karcsú.

Usually, the small kaninchen dachshunds are favored over all other dachshunds. Except if the dog happens to be a senior. This is why Fülke stayed with us longer than anyone would have expected. But all’s well that ends well. She found her new home with help from our Austrian partner organization, ACA.

One of the new arrivals this week was Vinyl. He came to us in poor condition as an owner surrender from the Gyömrő pound. He has a so far unidentified skin condition. We are presently awaiting the result of the tests to determine if Vinyl could be housed with other dogs at his current state.

Berény, this young wire haired boy came to us from another rescue group. Upon his arrival we immediately started his immunization.

Our shelters are currently operating over capacity. Still, we receive new inquires for help. Many a day. We have reached the point that we cannot possibly accept a new dog unless one is adopted. The need for help is great. We also consider ourselves lucky to have the support from our Austrian and German partner organizations that do a great job placing many of our dogs. None the less, we would like to see a paradigm shift regarding pet ownership because this magnitude of rescue is not sustainable.
This being said we are not even touching the amount of resources needed to rescue sick animals. The ones that for example, have heartworm infection due to neglect and lack of immunization…

Árész the Great Dane had his second eye operation this week. His prognosis is excellent. Especially if we can all survive the next 14 days while this very enthusiastic dog has to wear his XL size cone. That thing can be dangerous when wielded by a huge dog who just wants attention.

The Vizsla rescue took in four dogs. Three boys and a girl. Fortunately the number of Vizslas finding new homes is higher than the number of arrivals this week.
Two of the boys arrived together from the Gyömrői Kutyamentsvár Állatotthon Foundation. We call them Zemlin and Zémun. They both are placed in foster care and already working on getting up to speed. Both are scrawny but their spirits are unbroken. They eat small amounts; multiple times a day amended with minerals and vitamins. They even have vests to ward off the occasional chill of spring.

Zénum

Balikó, an approximately six year old Vizsla boy from the Baja pound is currently housed at the Tárnok kennels. He behaved like a gentleman during his first vet visit. He is mostly reserved with other dogs, definitely non aggressive. So far, he seems to be a pleasant and easy going dog who lives for the human touch

Nara was the last arrival this week. She is about 18 months old. Surrendered by her owner. She immediately moved to foster care with another Vizsla girl in the home.
She loves car rides, behaves at the vet’s office. She has a slight infection, that is being mitigated, in her mammary glands and also metal reinforcements in a leg from previous injury.
Nara is the epithet of the couch-Vizsla. Still has puppy manners and loves, loves, loves to be loved. She is very smart, house broken and easily motivated by treats. She has a lot to learn still which means many treats on the way to full knowing.
She also likes stealing things and snores loudly. She does that a lot because she is just a regular sleepyhead. Nara gets along with other dogs very well. She is submissive and also very playful.

Due to a couple recent fainting episodes, Teddy is going through some medical testing. In order to keep him under closer surveillance he moved to foster care this week. We hope that we will soon know what is causing the fainting and wheezing.

Uborka, aka Ubi moved to foster care. We hope that the calmer environment will help his socialization.

And finally, the ones who found homes: Zonga, the eight months old Vizsla girl from Füzesgyarmat moved to her new home this week. Based on the experience she gathered at her foster home she can already be considered a skilled gardener. She also will be lifelong companion of another Futrinka Vizsla in her new home.

Váradi Döme from the Oradea (Romania) pound was fortunate enough to be immediately placed in foster care. After only a week his situation was to change to even better. He was adopted by his fosters and will never have to move again. Definitely fits the description of “happy ending”.

Hessi from Cegléd also did not have to wait long for her happy ending. She barely spent a few days in foster care where her new family fell in love with her. Now she is living in Budapest and love being a city girl.
