What happened at Futrinka during week 7?

Week 7, as most of our weeks, was not free neither from happy news nor from sad events.

Rizibizi Lizi`s heart worm test came back negative, so she could be spayed. Now, nothing can hold her back from finding a loving home. We are looking for a family for Lizi, where boundaries and consistent teaching will be part of her life, as well as regular physical exercise.

Our help was requested for two young Vizsla mix dogs, who received the Krókusz and Hunyor names from us. Sadly, Hunyor passed away shortly after he came into our care, likely due to some sort of poison. He was perfectly fine in the morning, he ate, drank and seemed to be in a good spirit, while in the afternoon without any previous signs, he collapsed and passed away. The vets did everything they could to save him.

Oroszlion from our Chanceless Mix Breed Rescue Group found a new, loving home during the week.

Csekka, the 5-month-old little girl died in the matter of a day We are terribly sorry that we could not save her.

Brutus did not spend a long time in our care. He and his master fell in love with each other almost immediately and so we knew that he had found a forever home.

What happened at Futrinka during week 1?

There is a saying that the first day of the new year determines how the rest of the year is going to be spent. Well, every year has been similar at Futrinka since its foundation in 2006. We have been rescuing dogs, transporting them, waiting in doctors` waiting rooms, managing administration, crying in tragedies and smiling when our proteges find loving homes. We can promise you that we are going to do exactly the same in 2018 too with the same dedication and with the aim to help as many pets in need as possible.

In our Chanceless Mix Breeds Rescue Group, we are happy to report that the first doggy that found a loving home in 2018, was Mikos. Sadly, our happiness didn`t last, as a few days later, he was returned in our care. Despite our strict screening process, unfortunately it happens that dogs get returned. Therefore, we cannot stress enough, how important it is to think carefully through the responsibility a new dog means, in order to avoid the situation.

Luckily, the week hasn`t ended without adoption. Hordós Talpas was the happy doggy that found a forever home.

Harley Quinn`s heart worm test came back negative, so she could be spayed. Now, she is ready to find a forever home. We are looking for an active family for HQ that would enjoy the outdoors with a four-legged addition.

Aya was the first newcomer of the year. She arrived from an animal rescue organisation from the town of Nyíregyháza. She has a vaginal prolapse, which needs to be operated. If her blood tests come back with good results, she is going to have the procedure as soon as possible.

A dog shelter from the country side asked for our help for Szatmári Vilma, as she had had a very slim chance to find a forever home locally. After we took her over, we started to look for a fostering family for her, and a former adoptive family took her into its care.

In the meantime, Vakkantó moved from his fostering family to a dog hotel.

The two litters of Lizka and Ellie have grown up nicely, reaching the age of adoption. It was time for the mammies to be tested for hear worms and get spayed.

December, one of Lizka`s babies found a forever home.

The heart worm test of Karácsony Báró came back positive; therefore, we have begun the slow but safe treatment of the disease.

The year started quietly at our Dachshund Breed Rescue Group. Good news that aunty Torta found a forever home. She was a little anxious during the relocation, but she relaxed as soon as she arrived in her new place and saw that she will have a companion dog as well.

What happened at Futrinka during week 2?

The second week of the new year was calm at our Vizsla Breed Rescue Group. Most of our time was dedicated to coordinate finding the homes of those dogs that were lost and found during and after New Years Eve.

Nevertheless, the week wasn’t completely excitement free. A large tumour had grown very rapidly on the side of our veteran, uncle Tücsök. He needed an immediate surgical procedure, which he tolerated very well.

We had two arrivals at our Chanceless Mixed Breeds Rescue Group.
Sybell was found by the master of a former protégé of ours, and because the original owner was not looking for her, we are going to help the doggy to find a new home.

The bone skinny Boni came into our care from his former master, where he lived on a chain. Despite his poor former circumstances, he is an affectionate and endlessly kind dog.

Our Dachshund Breed Rescue Group received several new proteges.
Chili and Bobina are a miniature Wire-Haired Dachshund duo that was returned to us after 7 years. The two couch potatoes are great friends and they are looking for a loving home together.

Ízes was neglected by her former master. She has never experienced lovely walks and as a result, she weighs 13 kg. We got to know and endlessly kind little girl, who is on a special diet now and simultaneously enjoying a fuller, more balanced life with mental and physical stimuli.

It is always difficult to cope when one of our proteges passes away, especially if it is a young little soul that should have had more chance for a better life.
Csokika were handed over to us by his former masters. The reason: difficult to manage. In our care, he received love, attention and care. Sadly, one evening, he got ill. He was taken to the vet, where after IV and different examinations, he felt better. We were happy too soon, Csokika gave up the fight before the morning came. It is devastating that Csokika could experience love and care only for a very short time :(
