What happened to us on the 24th week?

If you are involved in animal protection and animal rescue activities, you always encounter surprises. This week we had some drama… Our female Hungarian pointer with heavy separation anxiety called Liza Harkai fell out of the attic window of her foster’s house. To be precise, she did not fall out. She tried to sneak out of the window and follow her owners who were going to a school ceremony... Liza’s guardian angel was just on duty and helped Liza get away with this situation suffering only some bruises..

Even though we have been keeping the adoption rate at fairly high level, we always have return dogs. Roni was one of them. Even though her owner was going to move to India, she managed to get her things resolved and keep this elderly and much-suffered spaniel. It truly makes us happy to see that Roni will be having a good owner for the rest of her life.

The other return is Odett, a beautiful female German Shepherd with working dog attitude. She is looking for an owner who can use not only her physical abilities but also provide her with mental skill development tasks. Odett gets along with other dogs after familiarization and does not hurt cats either. However, to be very honest, she is not that kind of dog that can be pleased with a 5-minute walk in front of the block. She needs a lot of space and time to run off her energy every day. She would be a perfect companion for a dog with similar attitude. Once again, we are looking for her perfect owner!

Three members of our Dachshund Rescue Group have found their owners this week. The male Miniature Dachshund Kamion (funnily named a “Truck”) has been finalized with his fosters which means she does not need to accommodate to a new environment and we do not think it makes him sad or disappointed. In the contrary…

Szivar (alias Cigar, in plain English) has also been finalized with his fosters thus she has also managed to avoid the drama of moving to another family. The only thing standing between him and his fosters was paperwork which has eventually been completed.

Magnusz has moved from his foster to his permanent owner in an incredibly short period as he was returned to us only a few weeks ago. Luckily, he has good nerves, is housebroken and fairly stable in terms of behaviour. Consequently, he was easy to offer for several candidate families.

Apart from Fraknó, another one of our dogs named Aladár has been neutered this week after a negative repeated heartworm test.

Six members of Pointer mixer Monja’s litter have flown out of the nest. While Monja is having hard times without her puppies, it might give her the chance for a faster recovery and her foster family to take a deep breath after assisting in finding new home for these very intensive puppies.

Last weekend, we were visited by the members of one of our German partner organizations, Hands 4 Paws e.V.

It’s been a great week for the Great Dane Rescue Team!

Sting, who is loved by everyone, has finally found his permanent home! And this home is quite something. He receives true love and care and will spend a few months in Hungary every year in a tiny and calm village. Otherwise, he will be living in Stuttgart, Germany. Sting spent 8 months at our Association. We knew from the beginning he was not going to be an easy-to-adopt dog similar to all other large mixed breed dogs. However, he’s been found by the BIG one so will be everyone!
After long mail correspondences, he was visited and adopted by his new owner. His new home in Germany has been verified by our German partner organization and confirmed as a safe and good environment for him.
We wish them all the best and happiness!!
