This week, we had the chance to introduce
ourselves during an important event, visited every year with a great pleasure,
that was none other than the CACIB in Komárom, a 3-day long dog-show. We are
happy to be present every year, as a rescue organisations specilizing in
particular breeds as well, it is important to create awerness of our work among
breeders and owners of the breed. Our charity box was filling up gradually,
thank you all who donated, it means a lot to us!
This week went
by with dogs coming and dogs leaving. We could keep our system from crashing
until the proportions are fairly equal between arrivals and departures, however
we have more dogs to take care of at any given time than in any time before.
Currently the number is anywhere between 80-100 which is a lot, even with all
the help from our foster families.
Aunt Loki, the
senior lady of our vizsla rescue has finally said goodbye to us. It took a long
time to attract any attention to her, but thanks to the professional pictures
from www.vauvau.hu, a family fell madly in
love with this fantastic lady. Thank you!
Alongside our
adoptions in Hungary, we have made our call for help heard by our partners
abroad. So a few of our dogs travelled to Germany to start a new life.
Olders dogs
are not very much appreciated in Hungary. And while dear Aunt Loki is an
example to the contrary, there was no interest in Menyi Saci whatsoever. A
forever family was waiting for her in Germany when she left us.
Team Traveller
also included Mara, who hasn’t spent much time with us – thank God, as it is so
much better to be a couch potatoe then sitting in a kennel waiting for your
forever family!
While we managed to find Sz.Zsalya’s
family, they have abandoned the dog to us, so she too was in search of a
forever home. Not for long; she got lucky and this week got packed up to leave
Dog Garden Kennels – to go to her forever home.
Alfie and Wince came to us from
another rescue in Hungary and after we’ve taken care of all the blood tests and
exams necessary, they were on their way to our partner organization.
Our super cute vizsla-GSP cross baby,
Sztrapacska who came to us in critical condition, badly emaciated also started
his new life this week. Unfortunately not in Hungary. There was a lot of
interest in the cute puppy, but we had to realize that nobody could see past
the cute puppy into the adult working dogs’s needs, so the perfect home for him
was found faster by our partners.
Barby, our cute, shy mutt underwent
her spay surgery, and is ready to find her home!
Tengelic also had her spay surgery
this week.
We couldn’t really call ourselves a
rescue if we didn’t have rescue stories to tell you from this week.
We were joined by a very playful and
friendly little guy, whom we named Szervanc and placed into a foster home.
Along with playful youth though came a
senior lady – Lancos Pamela was a stray in a village where one of our foster
families’ found her. They have managed to find the owner, who kept her on a
chain to prevent her from escaping, but quickly abondoned the dog to us as he
really didn’t need the trouble with this skinny, elderly lady. So Pamela came
to us.
It was decided in the last minute, that Woodrow will travel to Germany this week. Hundehilfe Phoenix found him a new home there. We are very glad, that this kind and balanced dog, who had a terrible past, can start a new, happier life.
Our second ’W’ boy, Wookie will soon follow in Woodrow’s footsteps and move to Germany where a perfect and very dedciated forever home is waiting for him. All home visits and checks are done and Wookie will be on his way in July. Until then he has to go through a couple test and exams – this week he got netured.
We would feel out of character if we
didn’t have to tell you about some unplanned rescues this week – who put us
over our maximum number of dogs again, of course. These three shy, not very
well cared for cocker spaniel females were left beside the highway. Mommy dog
is about 3-5 years old, we named her Amba. Both puppies are about a year old,
they both are currently in heat. They are very shy, one of them – who only has
one of her eyes – is particularly scared. They were named Mania and Teboly.
They were placed in foster homes and got their first shots.
Our dachshund rescue didn’t have much
spare time this week – either.
Three of our dogs left for their
forever homes this week. Tutyi, the short haired adult dachshund cross was
adopted to a family in Germany – she was looking for a loving home for a long
time, but without as much as a single serious interest.
Kamion, the short haired mini had his
neuter surgery and while there was a lot of people interested, he didn’t move
at the end. His foster family decided to adopt him.
Szivar, a male dachshund cross also
got neutered. His foster family also gave in, and singed an adoption application
to replace the foster application for this boy.
Magnusz had to leave his foster family
as he spent most of his time chasing their cat – he was placed with one of our
experienced foster families, but hopefully not for very long before he finds his
forever home.
Agora left the kennels and as went
straight in heat, her foster family will have to keep a watchful eye on her for
a couple weeks – she is in search of her forever home.
We have committed to take them a while
ago, so this week we welcomed Mindig and Azonnal from the shelter in
Puspokladany. Mindig, the female dachshund mix was waiting for someone next to
a road when she was found. Azonnal seems to be a mudi cross, but she came with
Mindig as we do not leave anyone behind – and these two very obviously belonged
together. They both unfortunately tested positive for heart worm, so they are
in for a long treatment, but we’d love to find foster/forever homes for both of
them at the same time!
