What happened at Futrinka during week 30?

We kicked off our summer-closing event series this week at Sugár shopping mall in Budapest, representing among others Dachshund breed rescue. Unfortunately we had returnees besides the arrivals as well, but our adopted ones made it easier to carry on.

Three dogs arrived at the Great Dane breed rescue this week, sadly one of them not for the first time.

Oberyn, the approximately one and a half year old yellow Great Dane male was found around Bakonycsernye. He was wandering in the streets without being micro-chipped, hence for 14 days will be looking for his original owner.

A watchful helper of ours spotted a Great Dane ad, looking for an owner. By the picture we immediately knew it was a 2014 Futrinka-protegee, Róza. Now this beautiful 2-year-old lady is looking for an owner again.

To the end of the week Flóra, the cca 3-year-old Great Dane girl also arrived. She is terrified yet, but the numerous trainings will surely bring the expected result. We will catch up with her vaccinations, but even till then she is waiting for the letters of interested would-be owners.

This week Dachshund breed rescue welcomed the two accident-wounded dogs from their hospitals, their operations were successful, rehabilitation started. Several of our dogs had visitors, also had an adopted one.

Borka’s operation was carried out Tuesday, the vertebrae were fixed using 4 bolts. She spent two days at the hospital for check-up, then moved to her adoptive. Most likely her recovery will be a total one, she is already using her legs, urinates independently, is eating nicely and is very kind.

The operation of Árvácska, the 3-month-old Dachshund puppy was carried out the previous week. Her legs and hips needed to be plated, but because of her age her check-up took a bit longer – she arrived at us Wednesday. A real puppy, she is also using her legs fine.

Now both of them are on their way to recovery, after removing their stitches comes rehabilitation to ease their complete healing.

Picúrka, the 6-7-year-old wire-haired Dachshund lady was forgotten at the house when her owner sold it…her neighbour asked for help and this nice, paunchy lady soon arrived at her temporary adoptive. Her nature and the great photos shot on her soon brought the owner for her. It was love at first sight, meaning from Saturday she could continue her life as an adopted one in the 13th district, her adoptives already eagerly waiting for her. According to the first pieces of news everything is just perfect – though no wonder it is.

Several of our dogs welcomed visitors, having a great time with the interested ones – meaning Kirby, Miskolci Talpas, Vignetta and Margaréte are candidates for adoption.
On their moving we will report next week.

For Sunday we were invited to Sugár shopping mall, becoming an animal-friendly place, this day and the events were dedicated to this. Our protegees were represented by Mr. Aszat and Vignetta.
Vizslafotózás also participated at the event, donating the registration fee, HUF 28.000 to the Dachshunds – thanks very much also this way!

Those who follow our stories week by week already know how the protegees of our base group reached 60+, also that by the end of this year the head of the group resigned from this and her financial managerial position – meaning besides looking for their successions we are managing the group of mixtures with the number of dogs frozen. Our goal is to reduce the headcount to 20-30, ensuring the normal operation – this way now we are emphasizing adoptions, not being an easy task at a group like that...

This week luckily we still had adoptions. Kismandela was fallen in love with during our first mini adoption day, but the owners could not immedately take her for a renovation of their flat – but now her time has come to move to a family. In her case this is really something great as she had never had an owner before, got to the shelter of Eger as a puppy. We are excited and hope everything goes right with her.

Zádor Kunca got visitors from Eger and as the local animal protectors helped us with the personal check, with the date going well, Kunca could get adopted.

Sipirc, the mixed-eyed mixture male managed to navigate himself to a family, meaning from among the Sáros-kids of Sárospatak only Sampon, the ringlet-haired is still on the look-out for an owner. Sipirc would not be alive now if he had stayed at that plant in Sárospatak, he was a fortunate one. He was rescued in the last minute.

We have many dogs at the kennel row now, also our latest employee did not meet our expectations – as a result many times volunteers, understudies take a shift. Unfortunately these occassions accidents can also happen due to the less routine they have. This week we had two cases like that. One of the affected was Megan Fox, Pejva bit her on the face on their way to the runner. The wound proved to be a quite serious one, Megan Fox had to see the vet, but even this one could not prevent the young foxi lady from moving to her owner during the weekend.

The other wounded one is Gombos, his all-time enemy, Poltergeist tore a big part off his ear. A vet round is awaiting him, it is to be done next week. Gombos is looking for an owner, it would be great to get him out of the kennel. We would also be happy for a temporary adoptive! info@futrinkautca.hu

Sadly even without the accidents we had several vet visits this week. The veins of Picike, the kidney-diseased mixture female blew up one by one, finally was given an in-sewn cervical cannula, but also that one lasted just for a half day. We cannot give her infusion any longer, she is given a special can-food from an injector, but we cannot do more now. Picike showed a tiny ray of hope, celebrating the end of the week by eating a bit by herself. Unfortunately that does not mean anything yet…

Picike’s Mom, the previously chained Lorzsi got to a temporary adoptive as well. Unfortunately this tiny 10-year-old female is not the lucky type, having heartworms. We have started her treatment, even this way she is waiting for an owner.

Roulette, the 3-year-old Jack Russel female moved to a family pansion near Budapest, to be closer to the possibly interested candidates. In the first couple of days she was paralyzed by fear – unfortunately her socialization has also got its lacks -, by now she has started to warm up a bit. Nevertheless, Roulette is looking for a patient owner, for indoor keeping.

The great disappointment of the week was Vándor’s returning by his adoptives. They had no real reason for it, only saying they did not like leaving him alone in the flat, and he was fleeing from the garden. They are certainly the ones who should not have any dogs. It is not just Vándor, no dog should be kept by them. Anyway, Vándor is awaiting a loving owner again, or at least a temporary adoptive.

The next mini adoption day of the group of chanceless mixtures is 14 August, Sunday, 2 pm – 6 pm at Városliget’s Kertem. We welcome everyone!

Our vizsla breed rescue group is organizing an Adoption Day for 6 August to the kennel row at Tárnok – besides our protegees living here also our dogs placed at temporary adoptives or pansions will participate at the event. We do hope for several of them this day also brings the chance for a final family.

We had several arrivals this week, a young Hungarian vizsla male got to our care from the animal protectors of Vác, we named him Dödölle. Currently we are exclusively looking for his original owner.

Sármos arrived at our care from his previous owners for his behavioural problems. His owners loved, but did not train him, resulting in an uncertain dog. We have started the rehabilitation of Sármos, soon a dog trainer also visits him.

Szandál and his cat mate, Flipflop visited the vet: Flipflop had an ulcer growing on her jaw, this had to be opened and cleaned, Szandál had two knots on his side, one of them just blew up, luckily did not have to get it operated – it would have meant a higher risk due to his heartworms.

We reported it so happy last week that Finnley could leave the kennel row, moving to a temporary adoptive. Unfortunately a couple of days later he got sick, it is pneumonia. Luckily he is in superb hands, thanks to his temporary adoptives, taking care of him, transporting him to the vet, doing everything possible to get him better.

The adult Hungarian vizsla female was found by the Szolnok animal protectors, we called her Akác. Currently we are exclusively looking for her original owner.

Two vizsla mixture puppies arrived at our care from the Füzesabony animal protectors, Lukas and Lebegő. Both of them were placed at adoptives, our first task with them is to start their vaccination programme.

Two of our protegees, Muki and Fodorka were neutralized, the operation went well, both of them are recovering at their adoptives’ home.

Riko’s visit last week was so successful that this week he could move to his final family.

After a previous adoption of ours Lipót got back to our care from his owner last week, as we found neither the circumstances of his keeping, nor his condition proper. Luckily the changes did not get him down, the same happy and joyous dog we once got to know. He was welcoming visitors, having such a great time together that the 2nd half of the week he found owners again, we do hope it is really the final one.

Uncle Tücsök, Sármos and Bendi took part in a bio-resonance measuring to get an even broader picture on the background of their behavioural problems.

Three of our protegees travelled to their families with the help of our foreign partner organization: Csongor, Juna and Fitt Lady.

The last arrival of the week is Pöttyös Panna, coming to us from the Füzesgyarmat flaying house.
