What happened at Futrinka on the 3rd week of 2015?

We could experience the first miracle of 2015. No surprise we are so happy. A real veteran left our shelter, Floki, who had been rescued from the Ajka city pound way back in 2010. Now the news of his head tumour-operation helped him to find a loving owner: a volunteer of our Austrian partner organization fell in love with him. Floki moved to their home. Luckily, he could adapt to the new place without any problem.

Now that Floki got a family – if we do not consider Vilmos, whose chances to get an owner are close to zero – a period is over, a period when dogs were rescued with different teams but a similar attitude and, unfortunately, some dogs of the first rescue operations got stuck with us for years. The stories of Zoé, Tiara and Floki and some others were typical of this period.
Of course life has not stopped and new dogs join the group of hopeless cases. Amba with her puppies were thrown out on the motorway while our volunteer was there and watching and had been since then waiting for months and months and this week she also moved to her new home in a village close to Lake Balaton.

Pumpkin, the cat has also been adopted. It is incredible that such a young and balanced and friendly cat that can be easily handled in every situation had to wait so long. But it was worth it.

Toldi, our Irish setterboy moved to one of our setter fans from the kennels and is now waiting there for the final owner. Until then he can enjoy the warm and loving home and learn how to live in a flat.

At the kennels we have a medium size silky haired dog with an injured leg. We are looking for a temporary home, otherwise we cannot save the leg. We would even pay for costs to the family if somebody could look after this dog...

Last week we started our report saying ’This week no significant changes has happened to the Great Danes....’

This week has been the exact opposite: adoption, owner candidate, newcomer and returning old dog.

Let’s see the good news first: Ricsike has been adopted! The candidate had been visiting him to see him, walk him and love him for weeks. At the weekend the boy moved home. The news is that they are very well. Ricsike checked all the area of the house and found the sofa very fast. Enjoy your life, Ricsike!

Bella, who arrived very very thin and full of fleas also has a candidate. They fell in love with her during a visit in Tárnok and keep coming to visit her. If everything goes well, next weekend she can move.

Róza also has a candidate. This is not surprising as everybody loves this ever moving, naughty and funny puppy. The last discussions are taking place now and she can also move very fast to the new family.

Our newcomer is Zeusz, the four-year-old merle mantle boy. At the moment he is very confused and does not understand the new situation and many changes. He is having a hard time. We hope he can get used to the new routine, and the regular exercises and the love he gets make him understand that everything is ok.

And a dog who has returned, Nura.
Nura was found in the street back in 2013 terribly thin and weak. She was recovering in a foster family and got much better and then moved to a final family. The owners also adopted our other Futrinka dog, T. Sunny. However, recently the two dogs have had some bad fights and at the last fight Nura got injured and left the family to go back to the previous foster.
So she is looking for a family again. She is a 5-year-old black Great Dane girl. We recommend not to have other dogs in the adoptive family. She travels easily by car and is a very friendly and loving dog.

The dachshund rescue group has a balance at the end. At the moment the number of current protegés makes it necessary to focus on adpotions to be able to pay enough attention to all our dogs in the future as well. We must not have too much pressure either. Of course we help in urgent cases any time when needed.
This is how Icu came to our care, this wirehaired dachshund girl that used to live on a chain and was advertised on an ad portal. She got used to comfort very fast. She is a very lovely, friendly and loyal dog who has to learn a lot of things but the future owner will not have a hard time with her.

On the same portal Brezs was also advertised for a long time. He is a 3-year-old wirehaired-mix boy advertised due to personal issues. Now he is also with us and, unfortunately, at the beginning he did not understand what was happening. Now he has a much more relaxed relationship with his fosters but we would like a nice and permanent family for him.

Walter, the old wirehaired-mix boy came from the Ajka city pound and now is living at the Tárnok kennels. We are looking for a permanent family as soon as possible or a foster family to spend his days in comfort.

Unfortunately, we also had an old dog returning. Casanova, the mini dachshund was adopted two years ago. Although we checked everything at that time, the owner did not do what they agreed to and what they showed by then...
Now we are catching up with his forgotten yearly vaccinations and do a heart worm test. Then he can be adopted.

Casanova did not come alone. Ajaj, a young adult short-haired dachshund-mix girl came with him. The people bringing her said that she had been found but had not been taken to the vet. They did not take her, although the dog had a microchip with false or old registered information but we still would like to give it a chance. The old owner may turn up.

Petúr had MR examination this week and the sad news is that his condition is not really new and an operation cannot help. We can try accupuncture and give him some medicine but we can only expect slight changes. He cannot regulate either the faeces or urine and uses nappy in the flat. This week he was also sterilized.

Our Austrian partner organization checked an owner for Karbon, so the black-brown dachshund boy who has once returned to us could quickly move to a nice and permanent family in Austria.

Fikco also got adopted. His fosters decided to keep him and this way he did not even need to move. After a week the family knew that they could not give him to anyone. They were ready for a dog and the dog could also adapt to the routine of the family.

Kesudió did not move very far from the kennels. A volunteer walking him fell in love with him and on Sunday we just walked over to his new home, where a group of girls were already waiting for him. He will have a great life with lots of love and spoiling. He really deserves it. He is a little angel.

The Hungarian Vizsla Rescue Group had a bit calmer week. No new dogs arrived this time. We expected to report about happy adoptions only, but, unfortunately, this is not the case. Sometimes life makes a different decision and shows us another way.

Ménrót arrived from the Karcag city pound and a family immediately decided to adopt him and so we expected him to recover after sterilization in a real home. But something else happened. Yearly hundreds of dogs are sterilized without any problems, but every operation, any anesthesia has its own risk, so we are really worried each and every time. This time, our worries did not dissipate like in most cases. Ménrót did not survive the operation. We will never get used to this and we will never understand why life is so unjust. We wanted him to have happy years with an owner. We could do nothing. We are devastated.

Topi was rescued from his alcoholic, awful owners after some problems. He used to live locked up in a small kennel. This week he was sterilized and moved to his new home, where the children were really happy to welcome him and they do everything for him to recover fast.

Mandi, the 4-year-old vizsla boy rescued at New Year’s Eve with frozen earends came to us with the help of some animal lovers and this week he joined his fosterfamily. Thanks to the activities of Demény, a lot of people called to adopt him and finally he went to a very nice family. He is walked and played with. When he gets a bit stronger and fatter, he will be sterilized and officially declared adopted.

Ezra, the 3-year-old wirehaired German pointer boy, who joined us in November from the Oroszlány city pound could also move to his new home. His partner is a Hungarian Vizsla and in the summer he can go swimming in Lake Balaton.

Zsömi, the 6-year-old Hungarian Vizsla boy used to be an outside dog. Later when he joined us and moved to a foster family, he learned how to enjoy the sofa. This week he was sterilized and moved to his new family. We know that he will have super years with lots of love and finally he has his own warm dogbed.

And last but not least the Ócsa babies have left us, too. Last autumn local animal lovers asked us for help as the puppies lived with their mother in a wardrobe in the garden of an empty house. We took them to the shelter and started the vaccination programme. They were growing very fast and this weekend they moved to Germany. each to its own final family found by our lovely partneroganizations. They were all adopted to live in a loving home.
