What happened at Futrinka on the 46th week of 2015?

It would just be great to have a more calm, peaceful period, but unfortunately till the pet-keeping culture gets significantly better, we will always have something to do. We get it a thousand times that „well, but this is your job”, but actually it is not. This is not our job. We are volunteers, who save dogs besides their civil not dogs-related jobs and families.

So, a new week, an active one again. Let’s start with the happenings at the Hungarian vizsla breed rescue.

We have taken Juhar, the 5-year-old neutered Hungarian vizsla male to our care from the Kecel flaying house. He still needs to learn travelling in a car, but after a while he gets calm and will relax. We have recognized it when getting in and out of the car that he does not like to be touched at his back, he might have some bad memories about it. We are still in the phase of getting to know him, but so far seems to be an easy-to-handle, nice vizsla guy. He has an extreme amount of energy, very movable, his muscular body being a proof for that.

Hanka has got to our care from her previous owners, her „home” being an iron barrel, having no water, in her dish only swill, hence her being so thin. Luckily a mercurial animal-protector mate of ours has spotted her and asked for our help. In the beginning of the journey she was quite impatient, but of course later, in the passenger seat, in someone’s lap she tolerated it much better.

Lottni has come to us from her former family, having not enough time for her due to their changed family situation, then she also bit a child of the family. She behaves shy, rather drawing back, is growning because of her uncertainty, but so far we have not seen any signs of agression on her, she did not behave offensively towards anyone.

Joda, the 4-year-old wire-haired GSP lady has also arrived from her previous owners, for family reasons. She does not warm up that easily, still afraid a little bit, so far only watching the happenings around her.

Egri Csillag, the approximately 1-year-old wire-haired vizsla was found in Eger, without micro-chip, got to the local flaying house. With the ownership rights kept there she got into our care, we have started her vaccination programme and also got her micro-chipped.

This weekend Copperfield, Bodony, Jánkó, Szőlősi Liza, Kóbor Benő and Handa could start their journey towards their new families. We wish them long, happy years together with their owners!

Csibész was also meant to move to owners this week, but the day before travelling he got sickly and depressed. His inner stitches have got infected, hence he immediately needed to be operated. He was taken to the hospital, luckily all went good with the operation, but we did not risk a longer journey with him in this state. The following day he was allowed the animal hospital, temporarily could move to one of our volunteers. He can get better in warmth, so that afterwards could head to his owners absolutely healthy.

Gigerli arrived at our care with hip-joint ligament tear, got to an animal hospital and was immediately operated, later also underwent neutralization.

To the Great Dane breed rescue one dog arrived this week, Nika. Also her, as unfortunately most of our Great Danes, found a temporary home at the kennel row in Tárnok.

This week the number of our chanceless grew further, though unfortunately there are enough of them already and we would desperately need helpers to support our mixtures.

We have taken Diszkó from a rural flaying house because of his broken leg, right then transporting him to an animal hospital – there it turned out that an old pelvic fracture healed spontaneously, without any treatment, but resulting in the forming bone tissue hugging round two arms of the isias nerve and pressing it. This way it was causing a partial loss of movement and also several muscles have started to waste away. Now this nerve, previously stucked in the bone, was tensed out of there, after its regeneration we hope that Diszkó’s movement will only minimally betray that some time in the past he had an injury like that. Otherwise Diszkó is an absolutely nice, open, friendly young male, waiting for a temporary adoptive or a permanent home.

For the other arrival dog we had made a promise earlier. Gombos came from the Csongrád flaying house, also finding his temporary home at the kennel row in Tárnok. His skin is not ill, but unfortunately looks like this, will stay like this, and according to the change of temperature he will sometimes look like a Chinese naked dog mixture or a moth-eaten coat – so Gombos will never be beautiful in the original meaning of the word. But in return he will always be nice and happy, able to join someone in any dog sports.

We also had another dog, Zuble-Tekergő, found in the street by the owners of an ex-adoptive of ours, Blende. The following day we could get the chip of this small spitz-type mixture male read, turned out to luckily have one, also with the owner asking his dog back – even if he might have been better at us…as Zuble-Tekergő is living on a chain in the yard because of his escaping attempts…

So that we do not just talk about our chanceless-group dogs, we are happy to be able to share the good news about Luci, the half-Persian male cat as well – she was the one confiscated at the eviction of his mentally disabled owners, finally landing at us at a temporary adoptive, undergoing neutralization this week, then moving to an owner to accompany another cat, Fruzsi. The new owners regularly inform us on her well-being, luckily everything is absolutely OK with her. We could not have wished more for Luci, really being a dream cat – from every aspect.

Cickom and Vagyon could be freed from a rural flaying house and were placed at a temporary adoptive. Cickom is a Dachshund mixture female, Vagyon being her mixture daughter. Both of them are under-socialized, shy, being slow in opening towards people, were extremely thin upon their arrival, but full of fleas and worms. By now there parasite-cleaning has happened, have also started to gain some of their weight back.

Cickom és Vagyon

Gombfoci was advertised as a found dog, but his original owner did not show up. It might also be a great luck, as he has hernia, a quite serious case, as a part of his guts have shifted to his scrotum. This soon needs to be operated, till then he is at a temporary adoptive, waiting for the ownership candidates to appear.

The last of our Dachshund mixture babies, Döntés moved to an owner this week.
