What happened at Futrinka during week 8?

We did not have any chances to get bored during the last week of winter. These days brought a new beginning to the life of many of our protegees, for some an owner appearing, for some the opportunity to find a would-be family one day.

Our base group opened the week with a new arrival, the happenings speeding up round him in a minute.
Árnyék arrived at our care from his previous owner, he had lived chained, was all skin and bones. He went through the veterinarian check-up, got half a liter of infusion, also to be given the next days, blood was taken from him. The result of his ultra-sound was simply shocking, his stomach is full of something solid. The only solution could be an operation, but as for his horrific lab results he cannot be operated, the anaesthesia required for it would mean a death penalty for him. According to his results his red blood cell number was 1,37, the vets consider him being still alive a miracle. He was hospitalized for a couple of days, his red blood cell number reached 2,4, hence could go home to his pansion adoptive. When it reaches 5,5 and he is getting a bit stronger, the solid material can be removed from his stomach. His chances are pretty bad, but Árnyék is fighting them and medical science as well – eating with a fantastic appetite, waggling his tail. We just must succeed, so that this dog, hungered till deathpoint, suffering so much in the first 14 years of his life, gets a chance for a happy retired period, experiencing what love is.

At our vizsla breed rescue group Matifu, who is otherwise full of life, extreme healthy became distressingly apathic, with his back legs shaking, did not want to play with the ball either, so far being his everything. According to the vet check-up unfortunately his joint is the problematic point, he needs to take painkillers for it. Next week he is given an X-ray.

Hókuszpók is currently living at a paid family pansion. As of his elderly age he does not take it easily to live with active youngsters around him, his eyesight and hearing are not the best any more – would really need a temporary adopter and a calm little nest to cozy up and relax in silence. If you would welcome him in your home as a temporary adopter, please send us a note to magyarvizslasos@gmail.com.

Lately more and more of our protegees need a special kidney-protective dogfood, developed for dogs with kidney-diseases. If you would love to surprise Joda with a sack, please drop us a line to magyarvizslasos@gmail.com.

We do not know much of Zétény’s forelife, but what is for sure is that he had lived at a rural flaying house, but as he was extreme thin, the local animal protectors rescued him, took him to hospital and at the same time asked for our help.
After the shock of the first days we realized he was not a dog needing an average treatment – he was not chewing. Weeks passed by, he participated in check-ups, treatments, we were waiting for lab results, from which we learnt he had a very rare capillaria worm in his body – what just destroyed his inner organs during its wandering. Later he was still losing weight though received food several times a day, his mood did not want to change either – even if from medical point of view everything seemed to be all right, meaning his mental strengthening needed to be emphasized.
Following a long-long attempt we managed to get him gain weight, it was jojoing, gaining and losing weight from week to week. Months passed by without anyone showing up for Zétény – then a day we received the news on a family being interested in him. He packed up visiting his would-be home, and though not being secure in an unknown situation before, even getting his tiny little soul shaken, now returned absolutely positive at the end of the one-day long trip. This way we felt they would be the real owner for him, since then have already received pics from his new family.

Their former owner had to abandon his two vizslas and their mixture mate because of his serious financial troubles. The Mom, SimaSári, her daughter, Csöpp Csilla and their mixture mate, LocsiFecsiMárk are not in their best shape, they will soon get through an overall medical check-up, receive their micro-chip and begin their vaccination programme.

Zserci’s heartworm test upon his arrival proved positive, but following the slower, at the same time safer method produced a negative repetitive test – next week he gets neutered.

Kardos was given down at the flaying house by his former owner, the local animal protectors asked for our help in his placement.

Flipflop cat came to us with her vizsla mate, spent a long time at our care, but waiting was worth it – she has found a wonderful family.

Fafahéj got to us with his Daddy, for his shyness opened up a bit difficult, but the real family finally also came for him – during the weekend he got adopted.

At the Great Dane breed rescue we had adoption, neutralization and new arrival as well.

Wolbert, our special-beauty giant got neutered with his stomach sewn-out, following a couple of days-regeneration he is moving to his new family.

Sophie was so lucky to find her new family in less than a week. We wish all our dogs could find themselves such a fantastic family so fast.

We had two arrivals, Nefera, the funny-eared blue beauty and Davis, the nice-hearted, clever black one.
Both of them gave blood samples, but unfortunately their heart- and skin-worm tests signalled in, meaning we are waiting for the final results now.

The week was a painful one at the Dachshund breed rescue, we lost 16-year-old Dolly, becoming extreme sad following her return to us. Even if we did eveything we could to get her stronger, she was not eating, her mood was not getting better, she simply gave it up. We are very sorry that it did not succeed and this was all we could do for her.

When a dog returns to our care even though we had checked the applicants thoroughful, we have a bad taste in our mouth. When it happens after a longer period of time, we feel ourselves even worse. This week following 5 months Stacy came back to us, he was too much affectionate. For this we really cannot say anything.

Still, good things also happened this week, Cellux got adopted. According to the first pieces of news he is feeling great at his new home, we do hope it stays like that.

Csongrádi Lizi had been everyone’s favourite, was always crawling to someone’s lap, the whole days should have been caressed. Well, at her new home she is getting all of these. To the greatest joy of her family she immediately took the place dedicated to her.

Following a successful visit Kormos also arrived at his new home. We know he is separating, but it can be handled very well by using a room kennel – we do hope the owners follow our suggestions and everything will be fine.

Vagány Döme, the 4-year-old standard black-tan male arrived from his owner this week. A beautiful one, loving children, but still has a lot to learn. We do hope to find him the suitable family soon.

Randy boy, the standard black-tan male arrived at our care from Serbia. For him we are also looking for the family, where he could live the life of a happy dog.
