What happened to us on the 44th Week?

This week was an important one for us: the book of Demény, our ex-Futrinka vizsla was released, with the premiere starring Róbert Alföldi (one of the most important actors of Hungary, the Head of National Theatre for 5 years) as the Hungarian voice of Demény, Judit Magos, the author, owner of Demény, and even his majesty, Demény, the founder of deményism J Our association has also been invited, for which we are really grateful. Deményists have collected us a lot of donations during the event, for this we would also like to say a huge thanks! Moreover, according to Judit, the author we will also get subsidies based on the copies sold – we will keep you posted on this.

It was great to meet Demény again, but unfortunately he reminded us not on happy, greave-full weekdays, but the great amount of vizslas to be saved yet, waiting for us to take care of them. We can immediately start introducing them with Fül, the 4-month-old Hungarian vizsla male, thought to be incompatible because of his bad behaviour with children. Even though some might say Fül is just a kid yet, but in his manner there is surely something that must have gone wrong, he really does not only hurt children at the usual level of a puppy.

The other arriver is Ezra, this special-coloured German vizsla (mix?) male, landing at our care from the Oroszlány flaying house, where he would have been put to sleep. His placement is solved for the moment, but we would like to find him a temporary and hopefully also a permanent family.

Vecse left the kennel row to be neutralized. After the operation he did not have to move back, as he could move to an owner.

Füli, the young-adult German vizsla male, taken from the Ajka animal-protective flaying house could also move to a family – we managed to find him an active one J

At the Great Dane breed rescue we have potential owners for two dogs, so this week they underwent neutralization. Zira arrived to the operation from her temporary adoptives, also recovering at them afterwards

Szofi arrived from the Tárnok kennel row to undergo the treatment and had to return there as well, so that everything is OK with her by the time she moves to her owner. She endured getting about pretty well, not making any tiny bad movements, which could have resulted in the stitches splitting.

During the last weeks the most active among us was our core-activity group caring for the chanceless mixtures, but this week was for sure above all – miracles happened, things that one by one would have been able to gilt this week, but altogether made week 44 the best one this year for the group.

Bunsen has spent slightly more than a week with his temporary family when they contacted us with their wish to be the permanent adopters of him, as he so perfectly fitted in their life that they think there is no other dog like him. We could hardly believe this is happening to us, so that this clever, nice, friendly, but stafford-originated dog found his final place. Thanks very much!

Guru, a beagle male has also found his place – he was visited from around Miskolc by a really sympathetic family, already having a neutered female beagle – and immediately falling in love with him. The temporary adoptives of Guru were there for family reasons during the weekend, they took Guru with them, so that from this point on he could live the life of a dog owned.

Not such a great surprise, but Lotti, the young Irish setter female has also moved to a family. In her case we were not for a minute worried about the time she needs to spend waiting, moreover, she could spend her time at Futrinka with a very good temporary family.

Melinda, the tremolous tchihuahua mixture lady found her new family with the help of one of our German partner organizations, Hundehilfe Phoenix, so during the weekend she changed her residence for Germany. We hope her life there will be absolutely untroubled and we will only get good news from her.

Though the other news are also superb, the best one is still the moving of Egres. He could leave the kennelrow behind, as the manager of one of our German partner organizations has decided to adopt Egres, the old tyke male, despite having demodex, being a bit deaf, a bit blind, operated with tumours. Uncle Egres took the journey pretty well, had a refreshing bath in his new home and slept a huge on his own doggy bed – to explore the garden the following morning. If we thought someone was absolutely without any chances for a happiness like this, it was him. But he did it! Thanks a lot Setterburg, thanks very much Sylke!
Unfortunately Fácán’s repeated heartworm test is also positive, meaning we managed to kill the microfilaria, but not the adult worms, they are still present in his body. So we do not have any other chances yet than to organize the injection treatment.
Unfortunately also slightly positive heartworm test arrived from Jazmin, the young mixture lady, saved together with the Komló animal protectors. She underwent neutralization even despite this, but her treatment had to be started. Come Doxycyclin and the Advocate drops so that we can remove the larvae and hope that the adult worms will also disappear.

We got a new dog this week, at first sight a beautiful Gordon setter female, but otherwise a really troubled case. Málna actually lives all her emotions on an extreme level, also continuously on the move, basically never sleeps, because during the time she spends sleeping is also unrestful, alert. Her family has tried everything in order to handle the problem, visited dog trainers, lots of vets, but in the end gave up, they could not undertake any longer the responsible keeping of Málna. As getting to know Málna we see that this period must have been a huge sacrifice for them and we are very sorry that it had to go this way. We hope to find what causes this maniac behaviour of Málna. But if there is one way that will surely be long, this is the one.
Owning string has continued at the Dachshund breed rescue, which is such a great piece of news as the waiting list has also enlarged meanwhile. A great miracle has also happened here, as the second bear lady, Botorka also left us at the end. She started a new life in the 3rd district of Budapest, with a fantastically patient new owner. We hope everything is going to be all right with this spindly, active tiny little one, interested in everything.

Pamacs, the wire-haired Dachshund male, taken from the animal-protective flaying house of Ajka has also found an owner, so from now on instead of a cold winter outside he can get to know a pampering family living. He has already undergone the first bath and also found the bed comfortable.

Not a big surprise, but our wire-haired miniature Dachshund baby, Rece is not in our care anymore, became the dog of a young couple, who were already very much preparing for him and awaited this tiny little scoundrel with lots of love. Thanks also a lot to the temporary owner of Rece for taking care of him till finding the permanent owner.
We got three other dogs as well, as unfortunately it is not only the positive adventure of finding new owners at the everyday life of our association, but also arranging the rescue works as well. Kevlár and Karbon arrived at us as a consequence of their owner’s death. Both of them 4-5-year-old, smooth-haired and male. They were also similar in not being afraid, they did not look for the company of people – hence we decided not to place them together, not even for a temporary period, they were parted. The decision proved to be good, as they must be independent this way, so the company of people has become interesting, moreover, looked for. Both of them are really good dogs, we hope to find them owners soon.

Lovag, the 3-4-year-old wire-haired Dachshund male arrived from ASKA, he had been given them by his original owner. His back part is highly unstable, hence a thorough checkup is needed, as for first we cannot even exclude backbone problems. Lovag was placed at the Tárnok kennel row.

As winter approaches more of our dogs have started coughing at the kennel row, or take antibiotics for other reasons or have a special diet. In order to minimize the risk of an infection and treat our dogs, we kindly ask your help.
Please send us any amount of the below items if you have the possibility to do so. You can send them to the kennel row or our central address from where we transport the donations:
-         probiotics
-         syrups to ease coughing
-         vitamin C
-         Bolus Adstringens or other products to stop diarrhoea
-         hypo – please do not send it by post, only transported to our plant!

Thank you all forward!
