What happened to us on the 43 rd Week?

The period of last week may seem to have been a bit uneventful based on the report of the Hungarian Pointer Rescue Group. As we explained in the report we had to do some background work to make it possible to have a very active week now. It is good to know that we do have paid employees to organize and carry out the rescue operations, visits to the vet. A group of volunteers do their best to manage everything after work and family. Sometimes it is not easy to manage everything but we do our best.

This week after long negotiations 4 pointers arrived to our shelter. Two of them are escapers, one with separation problem and one that have been found....These are the most typical problems why a pointer comes to our association.

Solya was the first one to move to a temporary caretaker. The ex-owners ask for help as Solya was an escaper on a daily basis and they could not keep her any more. As a result, she used to spend the days tied to a chain. The temporary caretakers have experience. Still they say she requires extra attention as she is perfect at the job.

The other escaper is Thézeusz, whose family also had the same request. He even tried to abort the transportation. Our colleague was already on the way when the owners called us that Theo had escaped again and they had been looking for hours. Luckily, after some walk in the village he was found and then a little excitement and chasing occured but finally on Sunday afternoon he moved in Dog Garden hotel.

Hermann arrived together with Theo. He was found by dog lovers in Eger, His chip was checked bit as it was not registered we were asked for help. After some investigation his real owner was found but he made a very quick decision and gave him to us happily.

Finally Corina, the shy 1-year-old pointer girl also arrived. The owners brought her as they did not know what to do about her separation anxiety and felt she may have a better life elsewhere.

We have had a lot of new dogs but also one adoption. Tóbiás from the Ajka shelter, our favourite little hairball found the perfect family and moved in quickly. A soft bed, a lot of petting and love were waiting for him in his new home.

There are weeks with a lot of new dogs and weeks with several adoptions. It turns out fast which dog stays long and which finds a new family fast. We are lucky to have a short waiting list with potential new owners so when a dog that fits their expectations arrives, we can contact them immediately. We do not want to keep dogs very long as it is always better to live with a family. And because there are so many dogs to be rescued.

Earl, the young long-haired dachshund boy found his family this week. He often got over the initial shyness and opened. So much that now the owner takes him to her workplace.

The adoption of Heves was not so obvious. He came to us after a very bad accident and needed long rehabilitation. Our old adoption partner fell in love with this pretty face and took him first as temporary caretaker and now this week as an owner.

Lizinka, the small wire-haired dachshund girl has been sterilized but could spend the weekend in her new home. We were not really surprised as mini and kaninchen long-haired girls usually do not stay long with us.

Csipog, the one-eyed mixed dachshund boy was visited by a family from Eger. Walk turned into love so there was no time to wait.. We took him to his new family immediately to enjoy love and happiness.

On the way back, however, we found a frightened dog running up and down at the road. He was in panic. It was very difficult to catch him but we did. Szólát, the 4-year-old wire-haired boy is now with us. He has chip and tatoo. The chip is not registered so we are trying to find the breeder. He is really neglected with mite and full of fleas (hundreds of them) and also has an inflamed eye... We do not want to know how he lived before. he is afraid of everything, very afraid....

By accident we met the manager of the Slovakian Losonc shelter. But thanks to this meeting Deny and Baja, two long-haired dachshunds could join us. For months they lived there at the shelter without anybody interested in them although they are pretty. Baja is a 12 year-old girl and Deny a 7-year-old boy. This age is quite high for potential new owners... They had a bath and are pretty and waiting at a temporary caretaker for a better turn in their lives.

We had a lot events at our hopeless mixtures, although the weeks before had also been full of activities. This department of ours has relatively few dogs but as they are problematic, old or ill there is something to do almost every day.

Of course sometimes these tasks are really good. Just like when Bunsen moved to a temporary caretaker as the dog returned from the family was shocked again here at the kennels.

Jázmin, a middle-size girl rescued from a chain in Komló arrived from her temporary caretaker to our kennels to start a new life. We do hope she will soon find a loving family as the first year of her life was really hard.

Fácán, our little feather-duster also moved to a temporary caretaker to enjoy a warm home after the cold kennels. He is having a lot of fun. So much that he tries to love all dogs he meets. he also has heart worm and is waiting for a serious treatment so he needs to get a bit stronger first.

Koxi, this big and soft bear has also been sterilized. His heart test was negative so he is ready for a new family. We hope he gets an active family who spend a lot of time at home as he loves exercise and has some separation anxiety.

Szofi, the girl of the German dog rescue group, has a potential family. A family who have been checked before are waiting for her full of love. After sterilization, the little girl is moving.
We wish all dogs found a new dream home so fast.

Our Hungarian pointer rescue group are now regular participants of the Pointer Hikes. It was the same this weekend: we were there where the number of pointers per square metre was probably the highest in the country on that special day.

Although it was cold we went hiking just like a lot of other pointer owners. We went hiking together this time to Somlyó in Fót in a beautiful environment. There were a lot of participants and a lot of donation: 89,000 HUF and also tins, dry food, medicines and rice. Thank you very much for everybody! Some of our ex-dogs also took part, which made us extra happy. We love seeing them running carefree and happy with the beloved owners. Let’s meet in November again.
