What happened to us on the 45 th Week?

We have seen a lot of things but from time to time we become uncertain: which direction is mankind going if dog in a condition like this week’s Spárga mami, one of our new dogs, can get to the street left alone and suffering after a long and faithful life.

Spárga mami joined us this week. She was found in Gödöllő with big tumours. She was taken to a temporary caretaker and to the vet for a careful examination. The ultrasound results were rather disappointing. Her intestines can be clearly seen in her hemia and she has probably been living like this for some time. The vet also diagnosed slpeen tumour and kidney cyst. She will be operated on soon and she will need encouragement.

We also had adoptions this week. Deby got a new family. She was found at the beginning of September next to the road by thre police. Probably she was hit by a car as she did not use her right back leg. She needed to be operated on at two places. The operation was a success. She needed to relax in a kennel, which she did not find easy. Her rehabilitation is not over yet but at the weekend she moved to a new family to continue the rehabilitation in her new home.

Herman also got a new home this week. He was found in Eger by some animal lovers who later called us for help. He had chip but it was not registered. Later the original owner was found but he did not want him the dog any more. Luckily, he did not stay long with us as a nice family fell in love with him at first sight. They visited hime several times and decided to adopt him. At the weekend he moved to his new home and we have been informed that he finds everything ok. He can adapt and gets lots of love.

Unfortunately,  Pataki Berci developed a new tumour on his mouth. We are still waiting for results but we do not expect very good news. Berci is ok after the latest operation. His wounds needs continuous treatment, which he found very hard first. Now, however, it is much easier for him.

Sterilization is the condition of adoption. As our Thézeusz and Forte have serious families interested in adopting them, they had their heart worm test, luckily with negative result, and were also sterilized this week.

This week a short film was produced thanks to an earlier adopting family and their friends at the kennels. Hopefully, we can soon share the result. We are definitely very grateful as everything that shows our work is really important and alone we cannot finance anything like this.

At the dachshund rescue group there is a new dog suffering from heart worm. This is disappointing as there are difficult to adapt as at the moment there is no official therapy for the illness. Bakszakáll, the 7-year-old dachshund with wired hair is looking for a family with this limitation.

Fortunately, the other dogs who have been tested this week are negative, so Karbon, Baja, Deny, Szólát and Ruha can follow our routine. This week Primo, who joined us after having been injured, has been sterilized. The original owner never showed up so we are looking for a permanent home.

Karbon, the 5-year-old dachshund also had his operation and is ready for adpotion. So far, however, nobody has visited him.

Ruha changed her temporary caretaker. She did so after having been sterilized thanks to the person who had found her, a vet. Raszta, Rúna and Rusztik all got the vaccination and now the whole family are waiting for their new home.

Unfortunately, one of the adopted dogs came back to us. Heves was returned by the family. He is still recovering after a serious accident. He can move quite ok but has problems with urine retention, which will take longer. He is doing his best but requires more attention.

To speed up the adoption process Deny, Baja and the growing Buxa went to have their photos taken at VauVau Professional Dog Photo Studio. Now we have some lovely photos. Thank you very much for Csanád nd other owners who help our little orphans providing the opportunity for a photo series. We take advantage of this opportunity as it is really useful.

We also had a tragedy at the basic group, Redőny unexpectedly passed away. We feel really sorry for Viki, the owner. Accidents happen. I wish we knew how to avoid them...

A new young, red boy cat also joined us. He comes from an owner and so is used to living in a flat with people. He is called Pumpkin, gets along with all cats and is not afraid of dogs either. He is looking for new home with vaccinations, sterilized and with a chip.

Huba  got his negative hear worm result, so he is also ready to find a new home. We would be happy with a temporary caretaker as well. He should learn how to live inside.

Fácán, who has a heart worm problem, and as such operation and anesthesia are risky has been sterilized. We worried a lot but everything went ok.

Near Szentendre the local dog shelter manager found an old, injured dog, took him to vet immediately. The ex-owner only made the effort to the vet to say he did not care. We did our best to treat him and keep Csöpike alive but the age, injuries and bad owner had their effect and he crossed the rainbow bridge without the owner during the night.
