What happened to us on the 46th Week?

Hurray! Hurray! Hurray! We are starting this week’s report with incredibly good news about everyone. For our supporters and those who were fan of old and tumorous dogs, you will be happy to hear that Tiara has found her forever home, her adoptive family decided to keep her permanently.

Suzie found her new family as well with the help of our partner organization Hands 4 Paws. Suzie, the setter mix, was brought from the ASKA, and now she is in Germany starting her new life.

The group of setter mixes did not remain the same because Maca the aging setter female has arrived. Due to her wandering* she was kept on a chain, but after a while her keeper did not want her anymore.. Isn’t it ironic that this dog does not want to leave her comfortable couch so far – unbelievable, isn’t it?

Pötyke, our Parson Russel Terrier who was previously diagnosed with heartworm, has arrived to our kennels.   We are hoping that someone will fall in love with her and adopt her, or  at least we hope that someone takes her home on a temporary basis so she does not have to spend the winter outside.

The dachshund rescue is happy about some adoptions this week. Hegedű, the dacshund found at Ócsa, was the first to move to her forever home. Fortunately we have received good news that her new home is perfect.  We are not surprised, as this is a great dog!

Lovag was at ASKA in Székesfehérvár.  His owner surrendered him because the dog was struggling. Most likely this was due to the inflammation and pain in his back. After some vitamin-content medicines and treatment his condition improved a lot and this week he was able to be neutered.  He will continue his convalescence with his new family, as he found a new home after the operation.

Szólát has found a new forever home after being neutered as well. He was found on the street and we were unable to find his original owner despite having an unregistered chip and tattoo. We even asked for the help of two organizations, but we were unsuccessful. It would be interesting to know how he got lost in the first place. He is very shy and when he was found he was full of fleas and had demodex. Happily, he left his past now and starts a new life, a better one.

Tina, the eight-year old dachshund who has heart-worm, moved to a foster home  this week in order to to get to know her behavior better while being in a city flat.  She did not disappoint us! She took the obstacles smoothly:  she housebroken, does not ruin things and enjoys learning. She is still looking for her forever home.

We heard about Memphis, the young dachshund from an advertisement, where she was offered “for free”. Basically we do not get involved in situations where it is the result of irresponsible litters being born, but we regularly check the free ads and try to divert those dogs to the breed rescue to avoid the situation where dogs end up with another “breeder”. We strongly ask everyone not to buy unvaccinated or unregistered dogs because it is this demand that keeps alive this cruel industry!

We are happy to tell you that this week four of our dogs travelled to Germany to their new home.

Darka the 5-year old Hungarian deerhound has been waiting for her adoptive family in the Dog Garden boardinghouse. She has done everything to insure that her temporary adopters won’t forget about her for a minute! . Even on the rainiest days she called her dog friend to play.

Ektor, the deerhound mix, got to a pound,  because it was suspected that he was killing chickens.   From there he came to our care. He is a very keen, curious, and human-focused dog. We have no doubt that his new family will take care of him like a family member.

Pessoa the 1,5-year old deerhound came to our care this past March in  very bad condition. According to eye-witnesses, two cars hit him, one after the other. He was operated immediately and went to a foster care after the surgery. Due to the conscientious treatment and rehabilitation he departed healthy to his new family where he will definitely have an active life.

Last, but not least Fraknó travelled to his new home, too. He arrived from the Kisvárda shelter this year. This very good-looking one-year old deerhound found his way to his temporary owner’s heart and we all thought he found his forever home. Unfortunately,  this is not what happened,  but we are sure that his new family will love him the same way as his temporary adopter and he will find a couch there too, where he can show everyone how to sleep in different positions!

We have received another five deerhounds recently and we believe that they will not have to wait too long for their forever home.

Forte came from the Ajka Pound where he was found on the street with a long chain around his neck. He had no chip but we learned who his owner was, but that person did not want him back.

Brownie, the 1,5- year old brown deerhound mix came from the Eger Pound and after some adventures he arrived to our care and immediately moved to a foster home.

Bonifác, the 7-month old Hungarian deer-hound male is also lucky. Although his family gave him up because they didn’t have time for him and thus they couldn’t care for him responsibly, he moved instantly to a foster home, where a boxer male was already waiting for him.

Kunó, the approximately 1-year old Hungarian deer-hound male, with his beautiful eyes also arrived to our care from his family, due to his former owner’s illness. For now, he still needs to get used to the new environment, but we hope that the integration will be quick.

And last but not least, Hartani Nana - a 2,5-year old deer-hound female - also arrived, who (and we are not surprised anymore) was given to our care also by her family.

We are happy, because this week two of the german dogs found their forever homes. Szofi and Zira were the lucky chosen ones. Both of them moved to their new family after several meetings where they were able to become acquainted. As per the first news everything is ok, they have quickly adapted to their new daily routines and gladly took possession of the couch and the fluffy dog bed.

The past few years has seen the creation of a tradition where the time before Christmas is dedicated to the Futrinka Egyesület’s craft auction.   Beautifully  handcrafted items are made by our supporters  and generously donated to our shelter where they  are auctioned.  The full proceeds from the auction not only supports the Futrinka Egyesület, but also draws attention to the importance and value of handcrafted gifts as an alternative to Smass produced items.
For the auction please follow our central Facebook page:

We will have a diary for the next year as well.  Starting from now we will give this calendar as a gift for our supporters who help us to gather the provision for the first months of 2015.
How? - You can find out from the blog, please read it and help our work!
