What happened at the Futrinka on the 5 th week of 2015?

This week we could help people in need through another organization. We definitely needed your help to do this. We gave them 366 pairs of warm socks from your kind donations for this charity event. It was amazing how happy the receiver of the donation-packages were when they got the extra packages. In addition to this, we had received so many cakes that there were two pieces in each bag, what’s more, they could even get extra cake and fruit portions. The Heti Betevő team could also finance the delicious chili bean dish from your donation. And some more good news: with your help we can help the needy people of Klauzál tér for another week. Thank you very much!

Unfortunately, our old gordon setter, Beni G. needed a very complicated emergency operation – his penis had to be removed and the urinary channel had to be redirected under the anus. The emergency operation was succesful, however, this operation is very risky and Beni G. has now incontinence problems. This is really not easy....

Gipsy, this little shy jack russel girl had been waiting for love very long but this week she could move to her new family.

Gipsz needs special care and a foster family to start his rehabilitation and, fortunately, one of our volunteers accepted the task and Gipsz could move form the kennels to her home. This way his acupuncture treatment and rehabilitation can start.

Our vizsla rescue group has had a very busy week. We got 7 dogs this week, which is really a high number, however, we hope that they will soon find new and loving homes.

The first newcomer is Dotty, the nearly 1-year-old Hungarian vizsla girl. Her owners asked for help. They had adopted her and then understood that the task is too much for them. Dotty is very lucky as there is a family who have been waiting for such a loving little vizsla for long. After sterilization she can move in her new family soon.

Dotty was followed by Karr, the 8-month-old vizsla boy, another victim of an irresponsible adoption. He has not been educated much in his life and he has to catch up now. He is calm in the car but does not know how to walk on the leash. As a typical puppy he is very active and scattered, full of energy and love.

After a late night phone call a sweet, wire-haired magic dog arrived. His Futrinka name is Cseles Ede. We started his immunization and killed his fleas. An experienced foster of ours took him home and he immediately learned how to use the sofa very well. Fortunately, a family is interested and would like to adopt him. We are keeping our fingers crossed. We hope the first meeting will be perfect.

Another wired beauty is a bit older girl, a lovely vizsla, Tampa. She was brought in by the owner and she moved to a temporary home immediately. Here she can learn about life of wired vizslas in a pack and can wait for the dream family, which is not very close, as we already had one on our waiting list, looking for wire.

Rajna and Szajna, the Hungarian vizsla mother and daughter also arrived. We are still making friends but the first impressions are that they cannot walk on lead and also need to learn about cars, what’s more, they also tend to escape. On the other hand they are very nice and loving. They are also house-trained, playful and obedient.

And last but not least Bumbi also arrived this week. She is a 8-year-old Hungarian vizsla girl given to our care by the ex-family as they were moving to a new place. She was going to move to a temporary family at the weekend but, unfortunately, before the journey she escaped and since she is really shy and undersocialized, and on top of it absoluetly confused after being let down by her family, it was not an easy case to catch her.

Another moving this week – the temporary fosters of Bonifác could not look after him any more and so this energy bomb moved to Dog Garden, where he has very good company to get tired by the end of the day and sleep like a roll until the morning.

Our Turbó Furbó caught a bad cold, unfortunately, and does not want to eat much or do funny things. We do hope he will get better fast and will make the volunteer walkers tired with the old levels of energy.

Luckily, four of our dogs were adopted and moved to their new homes after sterilization. Bekecs, the young long-haired vizsla-mix boy was sterilized at the beginning of the week, his heartworm test was negative and now he can recover in his new home next to the Danube.

Pölten, the German pointer mixture from Kisvárda also moved to the new home despite the hard road conditions and snow.

Another German pointer, Oakley was also sterilized this week and is now recovering in his new home walking a lot in the new environment.

And finally Anka, the tiny German pointer girl was also adopted and became a city girl.

Two dogs joined the dachshund rescue group this week. Natasa’s elder owner asked for help as she had fallen while walking and had got injured so badly that now she cannot look after her any more. Natasa moved to a temporary family.

The other newcomer is not a dachshund but the photo showed a dachshund-like dog so we accepted him in order to avoid that he get to put to sleep. We do not regret the decision. He is not a dachshund, rather a pumi-puli mixture and came to our care in pretty bad state: with his fur in a bad condition and a home-made collar deep in his neck, the whole dog very thin and weak with no muscles. It turned out Küllő has heartworms and the therapy has also started.

Two of our dogs were sterilized this week. Brezs a wire-haired dachshund boy mixture  with a negative heartworm test result, luckily went through the surgery. He has a very nice applicant so he will probably not spend too much time with us.

Icu, the wire-haired dachsund girl was also sterilized. She has a family waiting for her.
