What happened to us on the 31st week?

OK, can somebody please explain how this works: If someone dies nobody wants to “get rid of” their house, savings and belongings, but the beloved dog (or cat) most often ends up in an animal shelter, or like in the case of Pizsi, an older but healthy dog, in good condition for his age, is taken to the vet to be put down. What is wrong with us people?

Pizsi was placed with a temporary foster and we will do our best to find him, after 12 happy years, a new owner to spend the rest of his life with, in a similarly loving and secure environment.

And if this wasn’t enough, we had a pervious protégé dog returned into our care, so now we are looking for an owner for Börze, a young adult male, biggish in size, who has lived in a family so far. He would like to continue to living in one who would adopt him for forever.

There was another neutering this week in our medical section, but this one we are particularly proud of:
Virsli finally reached the state of being operable. His hair grew back beautifully and we cannot be grateful enough to his foster home. Now we need to find a perfect owner who will love this mischievous little bundle

Heves, who returned to us following a car accident, had his stiches removed. Following a check-up he seems to be recovering well, everything is OK with him, but the recovery will be a slower one. The costs of the surgery have put a strain on the Dachshund Rescue Group’s budget so if anyone could donate towards the costs please do so. Send your donations to: Futrinka Egyesület, K&H Bank, Account number: 10404089-49575251-57561000. Please use the reference: TACSKÓ. Thank you.

Fortunately it is not the only news of arrival that we can share: Opi, the mixed breed dachshund-spitz female from the Kisvarda shelter moved into a loving family, who had been regularly walking her during her stay in the kennels in the Tarnok.

Also with a family now is Wanna, the over ten year’s old, half-eared Dachshund mongrel lady who found a permanent home in Germany. According to the first pieces of news she IS a dream dog for real, and we weren’t talking rubbish...

As for the Hungarian Vizslas we saw arrivals and departures too this week.

Kojak and Tódi were both abandoned and put into our care, they both are currently living in the kennels.

Kojak is basically inseparable from his elderly mixed breed vizsla friend. Kojak was immediately taken to the doc’s as he had blood in his urine. It turned out to be cysts on his prostate, so as soon as he is recovered he will be neutered.

Via our German partner organizations Abony, the Wirehaired Hungarian Vizsla found a new home and so did the German Pointer boy Szervac along with aging Rusty, too. We are wishing them a happy life!

Two members of the less-likely-to-be-adopted group have left us this week, which is very good news for us, as there are always a lot more dogs in this group that we can manage. Szmila, the Irish setter was taken over by our long-term German Setter Rescue partner, Setterburg and in fact already moved in with an owner. He has a long way to go, as needs to improve his ways with other dogs.

Our veteran, shabby coated, mixed breed Bernese –Labrador Hecci also moved to Germany. He had scanty hair and testicular tumor when we took him into our care from the shelter in Vác. He settled in incredibly easily in his new home and behaves like a dream dog.
