What happened to us on the 40 th Week?

Our younger dogs are always more endangered by illnesses, as we have it as a base theory that their immunization was not finished, in most cases has not even started…Unfortunately we always have to take this risk into consideration, when deciding on taking babies – but when the problem happens we are from time to time shocked at how fragile a life can be, how irresponsible those people are, who just get these puppies produced, contributing to their suffering. Our shock and incomprehension is even greater when a vaccined dog falls seriously ill. This is exactly what happened to Manka, the German dog maiden, who was hospitalized with the suspicion of distemper, even if having two combined vaccines. A couple of days later her adopters decided to take her home to continue her treatment according to their doctor’s guidelines. We can only say a huge thank to them and will cross our fingers that Manka recovers.

This week Manka was not the only puppy to be taken care of. Kyra and her eleven mixed puppies landed at our Hungarian vizsla breed rescue group, coming from their previous owner - they were placed at a temporary adoptive. The flock has received their chips and has gone through their first worm-driving and vaccination as well.

Bill, an adult Hungarian vizsla has also arrived to us from the animal-protective approached Ajka flaying house. Luckily, agreed with the local flayer we managed to ensure the previous vaccination of Bill, who has also been emasculated.

Pataki Berci, the Hungarian vizsla sire arriving to us with a huge tumour on his mouth, could leave the hospital to move to a pension. We hope someone will realize his permanent mate in him – and at the same time that he does not have to wait long for this. Meanwhile we are waiting for the result of the histology, as this has a great influence on what is or could be ahead of Berci in the future.

Unfortunately Furbó had to leave his temporary adoptives as his behaviour could no longer be tolerated within the family. Furbó is an adult, active Hungarian vizsla sire, having a great amount of instinctive energy resources - he can only become a safe companion with a lot of moving and attention given by an expert family…as his current relationship with other dogs also calls for comments.. Furbó got to the kennelrow, which means a significant break for him. To give him an efficient amount of move, hence avoid him becoming a time-bomb we kindly ask those, having an affection for Hungarian vizslas to come to the kennel row if they can and take Furbó for a long walk.

Kojak, the elderly Hungarian vizsla sire was separated from Tódi, his former friend and boss, to start his independent life. He is after emasculation now, was also adopted.

Through our German partner organizations three of our dogs left Hungary this week.

Thanks to the support of H4P started off Matutka, the Hungarian vizsla maiden, who had once arrived to our care with an injured leg, this way her femur had to be strenghtened with an iron brace. Arranging her adoption has not been easy due to her extreme sensitivity, which means a greater amount of attention to be given her.

One of our oldest established German contacts, Vizsla-in-Not has taken Kera, the Hungarian vizsla dame and her beautiful, hairclothed daughter, Kál – both had been waiting so far at temporary adoptives and even though we have keenly advertised them, no substantive applicant has showed up.

Sadly, as Kera has left us, Kilián, her other child has got back to our care. He had been adopted previously, but as sudden changes have happened to the adoptive family, he was given back to the association. Kilian is again looking for an owner.

At the group of mixtures without a chance a dump happened this week, not necessarily a planned one. Unfortunately two of our dogs got back to us. One of them is Bunsen, thrown back because of a move and the arrival of a baby – this way he got from a family to the kennel row, which of course extremely tried him.

The other boomerang-dog is Melinda, the chihuahua mixture, transported back because of her shyness, even though this was already known when the family adopted her. Unfortunately the family could not tolerate it any longer that Melinda was not willing to go for walks with the head of the family and that for fear she occassionally snatched the child. Melinda was placed at a temporary adoptive, awaiting for a lucky turn in her fate.

A planned new arrival, a medium-sized, fuzzy mixture sire has also come to us this week, from the animal-protective approached flaying house of Ajka. Huba could start his vaccination programme already in the house, and has also undergone emasculation, so theoretically, in case someone falls in love with him, is ready for an immediate move. We do hope the real one comes fast for him.

Sodó, also an ex-Ajka mixture sire has also been emasculated, hence nothing can stop him finding an owner. Of course it would help a lot in this process to have at least one interested candidate.

Dachshund breed rescue also adopted two dogs from Ajka, where the too few kennel is matched with too many residents. Frici, the dachshund mixture sire, saved from among extremely bad circumstances, could move to a temporary adoptive. As the other arrivees, he also got his first vaccines and was emasculated as well.

Pamacs, the wire-haired dachshund sire is a dog bored of, got to the flaying house with this reason – and from there to us. He was also emasculated, hence in case a potential adopter turns up, can move immediately.

The supersuper news of the week around the short-legged ones is that of Amfóra, the extreme shy mixture dam having dachshund ancestors – she found her owner in one of our former adoptives. Amfóra this way became the companion of Lunda. And why this match is even more interesting? Lunda had been placed at that adoptive family temporarily, who later adopted Agóra – being the kennel mate of Amfóra at the Kisvárda flaying house, and as whose adjutant he could arrive to our protection that time. Quite a good labyrinthine, is it not?

This week, on the occassion of the Animal World Day we could participate in more programs.

The first day of the weekend we were invited to Érd, together with other animal protection organizations. Many children visited the scene, also with a small theme park for them, drawing competition was organized for them and performers enriched the programme of the day.

Our Sunday we spent in Budaörs, but unfortunately weather was quite bad, so we could only wait for the visitors in the covered forefront of the community house. More organizations arrived, so those few people, who decided to visit the event instead of spending the day in the warm comfort of their house, were also divided among these – especially that the outing was not followed by stage programs, only the representatives of the various associations introduced themselves. The organizers at the end of the day contributed to the operation of our organization with a great sack of petfood.

Tárnoki Okosok (Tárnok Clever Ones) was held also this week, fortunately with the participation of dogs who could not be part of groups before. For example Bunsen and Uncle Bence also got to know the path, both of them enjoyed the personality-tailored training, in case of Bunsen his broken soul was also healed a bit this way.
